I'm just looking at your project for the first time. I've had issues with accessing the site for an extended period! I've fitted a Vitage air unit to my Aussie 1967 Dodge ute. They share the same basic design as your but in reverse. Some of what I did maybe of use to you as I had similar issues with installation! Have a look at my build page at around post #244 you may get some ideas Aussie VC 67 Dodge ute

those seats (apart from the side bolsters) look very period which is cool. re the floors yes some stiffening is good, when i put the mercedes seats in my valiant in place of the bench i welded 4" steel 'squares' to the underside where each bolt came through.
neil.

Just want to take a quick second and to say THANKS to everyone hanging in there with me :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:
Thank YOU, for making this so interesting! You put a lot of thought into what you are doing with every piece of the project, then do a great job on it.

I would have never looked at that seat and thought it was a Miata seat. It looks right at home in your Dart, but it seems tall for a Miata. You must be somewhat taller, because the headrest doesn't stick up above your head in the pic. Little ol Lady from Pasadena? Nah....huh uh! ;) :)

Jan and Dean in 1963, Surf City~ in the very beginning is a '63 Dart, have to watch closely, but enjoy the song~ God I love these guys!!

yah I love The Beach Boys too

But the Dart appears in 2 places and it’s a 64 GT convertible. Must have been in late 63 When the art work was done . The Dart would have come out as early as October 63 .

It's very irritating when I run out of sheet metal and other metals:( I'm not quite finished with the drivers seats, some grinding and another support I want for lateral support. Don't worry, I won't forget the larger than life washers for mounting, may even put on the top as well sandwiching the floor. Carpet will cover the sheetmetal some day. I love the miata nb seats for this project, was initially looking for Miata na seats, but these are super dooper
I'm done for the day

About the time I finish with the supports, the new upholstery will be here~ it'd be nice to wrap this up;)

I haven't read the whole tread but personally I'd stay away from those new soft lines they try to sell you. Old fashion steel or ss is the way to go. I did a test on my old Suburban 2 years ago with them, just too damn soft and now they are starting to rust.

I know you haven't read the whole thread, But your comment is out of context at this point in the thread .
What soft lines are you referring to ? a/c , brake , clutch , fuel ?

Glen, I couldn't bring myself to ask that very same question :thankyou:

Back of mind I thought Brake lines . You're referring to the copper steel lines when you say "soft" .

So yours are starting to rust after 2 years , could it be the salt roads in Michigan ?

Anyway enjoy the rest of the thread , I hope you catch up soon .

NiCopp has no steel in it, and it is soft, depending on the flaring tool You happen to be using it can be fussy to have it stay squared up & centered. S.U.R.&R. is better & a firmer alloy, but both require some polish/NeverDull or they'll turn green.

I used them as a test as a lot of people were talking positive about them. I will not use them again. The real funny thing about it is I haven't done any winter driving with it after I did the lines. Just have been using it for some towing. If it wasn't so much work, I'd change them but at 280k hopefully they outlast the truck.

It must have some steel in it because they have rust already. When they make this **** overseas they don't care what goes in anything. Run out of material well what do we have laying around, throw some of that in the mix. I seen some major problems in all kinds of parts. How about disc rotors that measure good but the space in-between the discs were increased and the inside disc was so thin it probably would break in the first panic stop. That whole ordeal cost me $800. Today you have to inspect everything before installing it. Pure GREED has taken over this country and they don't care about our safety but when one of the rich get smeared on the road then they want to change it.

Hi guys;) hm, let's see, * still working on the seats, got the new upholstery yesterday, looks really nice for less than 200bucks. oh, I ran out of hog rings(ordered), there is some foam work I need to do, bolster mainly.

* I've been looking for the part, the hood latch support circled. I have looked for HOURS, I know it's in the garage somewhere:realcrazy:, I was wanting it right now just to make sure there is no interference with the AC condenser. I was thinking it would be fairly easy to fabricate one, but if one of you good people have one` I'd surely buy it.
What else~* I have the rear glass seal coming from Detroit Muscle and the rear glass is ready to install.
hm, I think there's more going on with the inside of the Dart than the outside

Well, guess I'd better go do something

I actually have an actual picture of it, where o where are you

You know when you find that missing part …

The seat covers look great, you go girl

I finally got my front seats down from my upper shelf (12’) last May , that was a project requiring moving a lot of stuff just to get to the scaffold in the other garage and then move more stuff in the shop so I could position it to access the seats, then move more stuff to get the seats down .
Made an appointment with the upholstery guy in July and dropped them off at 8 am . Got a call before I made it home that the foam was junk on both seat bottoms , by 3pm they were ready . Yea !

… it will be in the last place you look
lol
