I'm getting close to assembling my 273 4 bbl for my '65 Barracuda FS project. Been studying photos of like engines and noticed some have heat shields installed between the driver's side exhaust manifold and the spark plugs, and some don't. My project did not come with these shields and am wondering if they were installed on all 273s from the factory and mine are just missing, or maybe not all 273's got them. I looked at the parts book and can't find them listed. Are these being reproduced?

Yes as far as I know all 273s had the driver side heatshield.
This is the correct style for the 273, there are heat shields out there that have a web between the two sections, not correct for a 273.

Thanks for the quick response, so, I take it they are two separate pieces. Are they held in place by the exhaust manifold nuts after the gasket and manifold is placed over the studs?

I found some pictures from older threads covering this part. I see the shield and gasket are all one piece, if anyone knows who may carry these please advise. Some of the posts indicate they may have been used on both sides.

Some earlier cars (unknown where the cutoff I know 67 didn't have the right side)

These are not available new/reproduction (left or right)

This picture shows the right side, essentially the same as the left less the large extensions.

I see the web connecting the two shields on the "wrong one". That looks to be the one on Amazon for 340 engines. Not to intentionally add to the confusion, but I have this old picture of a very original '65 Formula S, that shows a heat shield with the web between the two sides. I guess there may have been more than one version. I'd settle for anyone that fits.

I have seen them for sale here numerous times. Put up a wanted ad and hold on tight.

I reused the ones that came off. Could have been originals.

Love seeing those old dusty photos.

All I can say for sure is my 67 had the split one originally, I have solid history and know it was always that way.

I Haven't checked the earlier parts book but the 67 book has the number as 2465845 (273 only), that is what is on mine. At this time I only have access to the 69 book and it shows 2946128 (both 273 & 318). This evening I'll check the earlier books.

FYI section 9-50-5

This was a fully loaded '65 FS with factory AC and 4 speed, copied from the web about 2005. Anyone recognize this car? Stripe probably painted over.

That's a cool car Bob! All you need is some photos of what people have and you'll be set. I need to look tomorrow. I might have a extra drivers side myself.

I just checked the parts books (64-74) and found 3 different numbers for the left and one for the right. The right was only listed in the 65 book.

64-68 - 2465845 - Left (no web)
69-69 - 2946128 - Left
70-74 - 2951285 - Left

65-65 - 2465842 - Right
