I just bolted an Edelbrock Preformer 600 cfm intake on my '65 273- problem with no kickdown hook up and peddle linkage different size that hope to resolve- but- When I tried to put my Commando 273 air cleaner on, I discovered the diameter of the base is to small for the carb- gotta have the aire cleaner to go with valve covers.
Is there a base that will work with the Edelbrock and my air cleaner?
And if so, does any one have one for sale????
any ideas about options? want to use carb- has only 200 miles on it.
Thanks

Mr Gasket has adapters for aircleaner bases.

My dad's 67 D-100 had a small 10 inch (I want to say) cheap four barrel air cleaner on it. (You know the type with chrome on top and a open air fliter element...see below) when he got it. He quickly changed it out and put a bigger one on his 383. When I got my 66 cuda it had that stupid triangle shaped air cleaner on it. But I wanted to put the original air cleaner on... but it had a 4 barrel....

just so happen the base worked well with the original (two barrel) air cleaner top. Although, the commando air cleaner is chrome I believe they are the same.

Does this help? I can take pictures if you like.

Aloha

by the way I was just in MD (Emmitsburg) in October went to Mount Airy too....beautiful place you live...

Aloha!

I used a small generic base on my eddy carb. and the chrome Charger top fit just fine.

the aftermarket pieces with the larger hole are easy to find. A substitute for that original small hole base is nearly impossible to find. Dont loose that oem base.

Thanks for all the info guys- I checked out Mr Gasket's website- may be a fix- my only concern is that it might raise the air cleaner to hi- Plus thanks to a couple guys who pm'd offers to help. I'll let you all know hat happens.....
Still open to ideas- This board is the best- Mopar folks helping each other----- Gib

As mentionned.. find a cheap, small diameter aftermarket air cleaner with the std 4bbl hole and run the factory top with it.
