I have 66ply barracuda its not a formula s car but did come with the 273 4bbl i thought that the formula s cars was the only one that came with a tach most of the barracuda i know of came with the vacum gauge next qoestion is there a sending unit for that tach mime dont work

The sending unit for the tach is up under the kick panel in the drivers side footwell! It looks like a gold tuna can and is mounted up close to the fusebox! There is a solid state circuit board replacement for the electronics available, I believe you can find them on eBay, or Redline Guages or Dashworx! I paid $75 for mine, and it works decent enough, but not perfect!! Geof

Welcome to fabo by the way!!

In '66 the tach was on all Formula S cars and I think it was also an option available on V8 Barracudas.

So that would explain the factory tach on mine being an option all i know it isnt a formula s car by the vin it came with the 273 4barrel ill have to look under dash for the sending unit

No way to know by vin if was a 2 bbl or a 4bbl. just saying

Or whether it was a Formula S or not. Fender tag will have codes, though.

My old 66 was NOT an "S", but it did have the Commando motor, handling package, disc brakes, four speed, and tach.

my 66 dart has 4 bbl and solid cam shaft. No disc brakes or sway bar. or Radio. lol

To fix the tach the easiest route would probably be the new circuit board offered by Redline, Insturment Specialties, or Dashworx! They're all the same board, fits into the original can, is an easy 4 wire hookup with minimal soldering, and they're $75!! I believe you can find them on eBay, or go to the Insturment Specialties website! I did the one in my 66 and 67, both straight up installs! Geof
