Removal

  1. Remove the A Pillar door seal. (1 screw each side)
    • There is a hidden screw at the very top that screws into the outer top trim
  2. Remove the A Pillar Door seal stainless Channel (4 screws each)
    • Note the foam seal between the channel and the exterior A Pillar stainless trim
  3. Remove outside top trim (2 pieces, 5 screws)
    • Note the shoulder screw
  4. Remove outside A Pillar Stainless Trim (3 Screws each)
    • Note the foam seal between the trim and the A Pillar on the forward part of the A Piller, IF OEM note the location
    • Note the wedge-shaped rubber seal at the top of the trim, note its orientation
    • Use caution at the lower chromed lock strip connection, the lock strip edges interlock with the lower part of the trim
  5. Remove outside foam gaskets
    • Over the years the foam might turn into an oily goo. I used NEW paint thinner to remove the goo without harming the OEM paint
  6. Remove the sun visors (3 screws each)
  7. Remove the rear-view mirror (3 Screws)
    • Note the long screw
  8. Remove center inner trim (2 screws)
  9. Remove inner corner trim (2 screws each)
    • Note the shoulder screw
    • It may be easier to remove the upper corner as you also loosen the inner A Pillar plastic trim
    • The corner trim interlocks with the A Pillar plastic trim
  10. Remove the plastic A Pillar trim (1 screw each)
    • Pull out from the top slowly lifting it out of the kick panel
    • You can remove the kick panel if that helps

Installation

  1. Install the plastic A Pillar trim (1 screw each)
    • Insert the bottom loosely into the opening in the kick panel and work the trim up from the bottom
    • Before the trim is fully seated insert the inner corner stainless trim over the plastic trim
    • Leave the screw loose
  2. Install the inner corner trim (2 screws each)
    • The shoulder screw goes to the bottom
    • The corner trim interlocks with the A Pillar plastic trim
    • It will be easier to install the corner onto the inner A Pillar plastic trim before the A Pillar plastic trim is fully installed
  3. Tighten the A Pillar plastic trim screw
  4. Install the inner center trim (2 screws)
  5. Install the rear-view mirror (3 Screws)
    • The long screw goes in the center
  6. Install the sun visors (3 screws each)
  7. Install the outside foam gaskets
    • The upper long gasket is centered on the screw holes
    • The side gaskets I placed one edge just at the channel of the glass seal and the A Pillar
    • I have photos of the seal being centered on the peak of the A Pillar but it does not make contact with the trim so it seems pointless
    • Placement of the seal can affect the position of the trim with respect to the windshield gasket
  8. Install outside A Piller Stainless Trim (3 Screws each)
    • There is a wedge-shaped rubber seal at the top of the trim, insure its installed
    • Use caution at the lower chromed lock strip connection, the lock strip edges interlock with the lower part of the trim
    • Leave the upper screw loose
  9. Install outside top trim (2 pieces, 5 screws)
    • The drivers side goes under he passenger side
    • The Shoulder screw goes in the center
    • The top trim interlocks and goes over the A Pillar outside trim
  10. Tighten the A Pillar trim screws
  11. Install the A Pillar Door seal stainless Channel (4 screws each)
    • There is a foam seal between the channel and the exterior A Pillar stainless trim
  12. Install the A Pillar door seal. (1 screw each side)
    • There is a hidden screw at the very top that screws into the outer top trim
    • There were dabs of sealer to hold the seal in place

NOTES:

  1. Many of the screw holes in the A pillar and the top rail may be stripped out. You may want to test fit all the screws (look for witness marks for locations) and do what you feel is right to tighten the holes
  2. When I installed the outer seals, I made the top corners intersect to make a water dam of sorts for any water that gets blows under the trim from the windshield. My intent was to prevent water from going under the trim and into the channel on the top rail
  3. I used spray adhesive on the seals on the body side only to hole then in place during assembly
