No reason for that car to be bid up that high that fast with so many days left on the auction...

If I were guessing, they are bidding to test where the reserve is at. If it is not based in reality, it will slow. For my 15k, the body issues would be a turnoff, but it is a cool car you don't see many of if you are looking keep it close to original.

Yup and another thing I see shill bidders do is run her up the 1st day then lower the reserve on the last day in hopes someone will jump in.

Reserve has already been lowered and has a $11,100 bid.

Hey guys, this car is near me.
I saw this car forsale on craigslist a couple weeks ago by another guy it was on the east end of the island i think he is flipping it.
The car was for less money also i think it was $8500. which i still thought was kinda pricey. i would buy the 68 that's for sale for 20k from 1968formulas340

12 hours left and not alot of action since the first day when the price ran up like a 1 of 1 hemi car. lol

11,200 . And extensive body work , no front floors, seat upholstery , and there will be lots of hidden stuff , i would say another 10 to do it right.

$10K to get the whole car right and make it a $22K car??

I think it will be well over $10K JUST to do the metalwork, bodywork, and paint right.

14k is high for that amount of rust.

I also agree with Autoxcuda's "I think it will be well over $10K JUST to do the metalwork, bodywork, and paint right."

Yup that right rear is real bad if it shows waves in pictures. Pictures always make a car look better so I would hate to see that in person.

exactly.. thats alot of money for that car. as for the estimation of $$.. at least double the 10 grand.. then dont forget to add the little stuff needed to finish the car..

I still would put my money elsewhere, to get rid of the rust issues . I hate rust , and dealing with it .If you where going to purchase a car anyway , why pay 14 500 plus 10 grand to fix it , when you could buy a real nice four speed a body that is flawless , for under 25 grand .And even if you were purchasing it to make money , i really do not think there is going to be any to be made .But do not get me wrong it was a great car in its day , especially the interior with console 4 speed love it .But its days are done unless somebody really wants it bad. my opinion.

Now there is another A4 340 4 speed. This owner says it is not numbers matching, but has not checked the VIN on the block. Not sure how that makes a whole lot of sense. Car has an interesteing backstory, and it was cool to see some of the documents from the 1970's and what looks like a Dixco tach...I emailed him some questions and I think that a realistic offer might get it pulled early and sold. While they both need a lot, this one seems comparable to the other one.

ORIGINAL 1969 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA FORMULA S – 340 4-SPEED

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL 69 340 FORMULA S BARRACUDA WITH 4-SPEED. CAR STILL HAS ORIGINAL PAINT, INTERIOR ETC. NUMBERS MATCHING 4-SPEED WITH NON-MATCHING 69 340 BLOCK WITH X HEADS. I’VE NEVER TRIED TO START THE CAR, BUT WAS TOLD WHEN I PURCHASED IT THAT IT DOES RUN. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 2006 WITH THE HOPES TO RESTORE AND I’VE STORED IT IN A HEATED GARAGE SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED IT. ALL TRIM, BUMPERS, LIGHT ASSEMBLIES, DASH AND GAUGES ARE ALL THERE AND IN GOOD SHAPE. CAR ALSO HAS A HOOD MOUNTED TACH FROM BACK IN THE DAY. CAR HAS POWER STEERING AND MANUAL FRONT DISC BRAKES AND SWAY BAR.

THIS CAR HAS ONLY BEEN REGISTERED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND 2ND OWNER. I HAVE A BUNCH OF PAPERWORK FROM THE 2ND OWNER WHO PURCHASED THE CAR BACK IN 1975 TO INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER CLIPPING AD FROM THE DEALERSHIP, TEMPORARY LICENCE PLATE AND RECEIPT FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR $499 FOR WHICH THE CAR SOLD FOR IN 1975. That one being untouched as far as body looks to need lees body work. I dont see a reserve so that car can be bought right.

She'll still need a date with the media blaster, but.....it sure is much more fun watching an auction with no reserve! (unless the guy pulls it at the last minute because it didn't go high enough, which many of them seem to do)
