Don't think that is good for tanks
The make special stuff for that
Its no flaking so might be ok
From what I gathered 70 is different from 67/68/69
Something about the angle of the fill tube

In all the years I’ve tinkered with these cars, this is the first that I have learned about the fill tube and the angle as it goes into the tank. The tank I have has a slight angle to the rear. With the fill tube in place, the tube looks out of square. I hope it doesn’t leak!

The tank cleaned up inside and out. The Evaporust took away most of the discoloration inside.

Outside I scrubbed with wire brushes, Red Scotch Brites, gasoline then a wash down with Dawn detergent.

The lines are hooked up. Hey, does it matter if the snap on ground strap attaches from the fuel nipple on the sending unit to the vent line? I figure the point is just to ground the sending unit so it shouldn’t matter if the other end is to the fuel line or vent line. Both the lines are strapped to the underbody in several places so both are well grounded.

Didn't know gt grill was that much different
Dont think I paid much pm me if your interested and ill take some pics

I wouldn't think it would matter which way the ground strap across the rubber part of the gas line is connected as long as it is getting a good ground to the body. As many of the clips there are that hold the metal line to the body, surely one of them is making a ground. If the gas gauge doesn't work when you get it running, you could rig up a jumper wire to run from the sending unit at the tank, up to the - battery post to see if that made the gauge work.

The project has been on hold while I tend to other things.
I am building this car using as many hand-me down parts as possible to keep costs down. The car is a want, not a need so I've been careful to spend wisely. I'm going to use a 360 from my other Dart but until I pull that engine out, I don't have much to update.

I've even contemplated the future of the car and how long I'd keep it.
I really enjoy the build of a car. Yeah, I enjoy driving them but sometimes the build itself is enough for me. I may get this car running and driving and decide to sell it.
Some will say Why do you need so many cars ? Chicks have a lot of shoes, right? How come a guy can't have more than one car if he has a place to keep it and can afford to register and insure it?
Therein lies the issue. California registration fees are a kick to the face. It was $155 a year just to register this car:

I'll bet this Dart will be about the same. Try registering and insuring 6 or 7 cars ! Sometimes it starts to wear on a man.

At least nj classic is a one time only reg
Im all about many cars and bikes you can have
How can 12 be tomany ....wife and kid get one each ....but only 5 of mine are legal right now and one of my 6 bikes is registered

It is like the wise old gentleman once said " A man (or woman) can never own too many old cars!"/
Or she asked " why are ALL your cars red, and I count 16 of them!"
Or "way too fast is barely fast enough."

8-1/4 carrier break is at 2.56:1 according to USA standard gear
  • 8.25″ 2.45 & down / 2.56 & up
Yes, that's right, they made a 2.45 and a 2.56 gear for the A999 cars back in the seventies and early eighties, depending on tire height and desired highway speed rpm for emissions requirements. 2.71 carrier accepts up to 4.88 gear.
