Glutton for Punishment
I have searched this forum and can't seem to find the information I am trying to find. My project is a 71 Dart that I am adding the 70 model twin scoops to the hood. I have a factory hood from a 70 Dart that already has the holes/cutouts in place. Earlier searching that I have done lead me to believe that the "inserts" that went into the large holes were shaped like an inverted tophat that was then attached with 4 sheet metal screws in each scoop. This is borne out by the fact that there are four small holes in the hood where the inserts were previously located. However, all I can find in catalogs now are what amounts to a big grommet that is referred to as sealing the hood to the snorkel air cleaner. What I have is a large, circular air filter housing with dual oblong openings under where the scoops would dump. My understanding is that the filter housing I have is correct for the 70 model year configuration. What is the correct part for the opening in the hood? Can anyone with a factory 70 hood please provide pix of the inserts and the corresponding air cleaner housing? Thanks in advance!
