Guess it's time to just start a thread on my build. Some of you know I'm adding a procharger to my junkyard 5.9 magnum. Some of these things I've already done and will post pictures, others I will post along the way.

I did dragweek last year for the first time just to see how I liked it. Car averaged 12.27 @ 108 when combining all 5 time slips. Needless to say I wasn't competitive with those times but I caught the bug. Told my wife it will be a 10 second car next year on the way home. Shooting for 10.50's this year so I can make it into the top 32 cars in Street Machine Eliminator and enter the bracket race on the last day.

So that leads up to the transformation. Below is a list of what I've done to get ready.

    - Pulled the 3.91 geared 8 3/4 and replaced with a 3.54 geared Dana 60 from junkyard. Moser 31 spline axels and powerlock sure grip from Dr. Diff

    - Pulled old worn out interior and install 6 point roll bar. Since interior was out I had the seats re upholstered and installed new carpet.

    - Pulled fuel tank to install 1/2 sending unit and install -8 bulkhead fitting for a -8 return line. Ran -8 feed and return to an aeromotive boost referenced fuel pressure regulator. Also installed electric fuel pump.

    - Pulled heads to install ARP head studs and thicker cometic head gaskets. Also changed to an M1 single plane intake manifold.

    - Installed moroso high volume water pump and high volume 180 degree thermostat.

    - Installed P1-SC procharger.

Currently working on pumbing to the blow through Holley carb.

The procharger was clocked wrong when I got so had to re clock it. Now I'm having trouble getting everything to line up because the carb hat is hitting the extended vent tubes. Hope to get the tubes bent correctly tonight.

What was the combo that went 12.20's?

Junkyard 5.9 mag with 92,000 miles. Just did rings and bearings, bores still looked great. Comp cam 230/236 duration at 0.50 with .507/.513 lift. EQ heads with stock sized valves. Air Gap intake with a Holley 750 DP, cheap summit headers to 2.5 inch exhaust to the bumper.

It has gone the quickest of 7.47 at 90 MPH with the old 8 3/4 with 3.91 gears. That would have been good for 11s had I been at a 1/4 mile track that day. Running an Ultimate 3,800 stall converter with a 275/60/15 MT SS street drag radial. Full interior and street trim. Weighed 3400 with me in it.

Just a fun fact. In the middle of all this transformation I had the opportunity to race it again with the roll bar installed and the 3.54 D60. It went 7.62 at 89 even with the added weight! (This was still NA with old motor combo, hadn't changed intakes yet.)

I thought the 3.54 gear would have hurt more than that in the 1/8th. I think that damn good torque converter helps a lot.

That's pretty good. I've got the Hughes EQ's with 2.02/1.62 valves and a Hughes cam with .539/.549 lift. Air gap and a 650 cfm carb. It runs pretty well but haven't got it to the track. It feels like MAYBE a 14.0 car. But I'm running 3.55 gears and a 2800 PTC converter. I need more carb and some time at the track to tune it.

That combo is as close to a MP 360/380 create engine as you can get. Good Job by the way.
I don’t know if dropping weight and adding more converter is possible for your taste but you can get some mid 11’s out of that combo. Your not that far away.

Yes, I think I could have achieved mid 11s with the old combo if I had been willing to drop weight. Just love the all steel full interior!

Now with the Procharger I'm hoping for 10.50s or 10.60s.

Started it for the first time with the Procharger last night. Everything went well except the new crank pulley is smaller for the v belt that runs my alternator and water pump so I'm going to have to pick up a shorter V belt.

Other than that all is good. No fuel or water leaks. Get this shorter belt on and it will be time for a short drive around the block. After that I still need to install my water/meth injection kit, then it will be time for some test passes at the track!

I've got an MSD pro billet distributor and 6AL box with a blaster coil. I'll be running a water injection kit to help cool the air charge and hopefully keep it from detonating. We'll see. The water injection will kick in at 4 lbs of boost. I may have to go to some sort of timing control later on, not sure

With the MSD dizzy you can the lock the advance out run it locked out till you can get timing controller just take little steps when tuning boost hate see you mess up pistons. I know on a SBM head gaskets are a weak leak ask me how I know.

I agree! I later tore the other head off and two cylinders had let go on that side.

Yes, this why I pulled the heads to do head studs and went with a thicker cometic head gasket. Hopefully this will keep that from happening.

I was able to find a 10 degree advance bushing. Put that in and I'm going to start out at 20 degrees initial and 30 total timing. The NA motor ran best with 36 total so hopefully pulling 6 degrees out will be enough to start with.

20 degrees is a good start just take small steps on the timing.
