74 Dart w/ 340 6 pack

Hey Ken! I don't know how I missed your build after all this time, last I posted was in 2010 looks like...I just re-read the whole thing!

Man, NICE work you have done! You certainly have been through a lot. Fuel pump issue, transmission clutch problem, shock mount busting, now this tile truck damage, WOW! way to stick with it my man!!, My hat's off to YOU!!! I prolly woulda thrown in the towel!!!

Any other plans for the car? Things ya wanna change? ...4 speed swap? LOL!!

Thanks James. I did have a few problems especially with the body guy but I stuck with it. More than a few people have told me the car is bad luck and the first 3 numbers in the original blue plate are 222 so I guess that makes her only 1/3 evil.

I've got almost 10,000 miles on the rebuild, so I'm happy to be driving a car that I love and I know it will always be a work in progress.

Still out driving the beast as I call her, but after I got back from going to Florida to see my mom and renting a Challenger for the time I was there I went and got this yesterday..........

It is a 2012 with 130 miles on it. They wanted $71,000+ for it but it had sat in the dealership for over a year. I went in and offered $49,000 and they took it. It has the 392 Hemi, Upgraded sound package, Interior trim package and a 6 speed manual. It was the only one left in the Bay Area with a 6 speed. The wife is happy now we can take both of the cars to the car shows and she is learning to drive the 6 speed......

Happy Moparing down the road!!!

Thanks Rob. I had my eye on this one for a while but the price was way more than I was willing to pay.
A $20,000 up charge is why it sat for so long. I know that only 1000 of these were made but no one wants
to pay 1/3 more for a car than what it is worth.

She is just getting accustom to the raw power that the Dart has. The fastest she went was maybe 75........maybe because I was right behind her but on another note this is the first time I have seen the car on the road from the outside and I have to say I was really impressed by the look and sound of the car......We did get a lot of looks or should I say my wife did.

Thanks Ian. I just broke 500 miles on her and now that the motor is past the break-in point it's time to go have fun!!!

Update on the Dart. I had to take it back to Schuck's transmission because it was sifting back into neutral when I was really getting on it and found out the Hurst shifter is not working properly. It is a quarter of a click off (after all of the adjustments that can be made) so when I have it in drive it is not grabbing all the way. After talking to Jeff at Schuck's he said I should go with a PPP or the Cheetah shifter. I'm going to go with the Turbo Action Cheetah shifter because it has a shift cover unlike the PPP and I can still mount my gauges to the cover.

I hear other members raving about their Cheetahs. Anxious to get your opinion.

Me too that is also why I went with the Cheetah. Also I needed to have something that I could use for my gauges and the Precision Performance Products Kwik Shift l did not have a cover that I could attach the gauges to.

If it was just a race car I would have gone with the PPP as I would not have cared what it looks like but since I take her to the shows I wanted something that looks good as well as it being functional.

Was good to see the Dart back on the street Ken. I really liked the way the new shifter looked and you have to let us all know how it performs vs the hurst you used to have.

Well after a week of driving the Dart with the new shifter I really like the Cheetah. With the Hurst I couldn't get it to go into 1st or if I adjusted it to go into 1st it would not go into Park. I played with it for the longest time but I could never get it to work right. The Cheetah shifts so easy from 1-2-3 and I don't have to worry about the cable anymore as it runs down the passenger side, under the transmission and hooks up behind the lever. The Hurst shifter did look cool but it never worked right.

Here are a couple of pictures from the Good Guys in Pleasanton CA this last weekend.

Looks good, Ken. Seems like I'll need another ride in Challenger after the 10k mark!

Thanks Jeff, I know I can't wait until I break 10k either because if it wakes up anymore I'll be in trouble for sure........:burnout:

For all of us 73 and up Darts I found this on Ebay. I just got mine today even though I ordered them last month. They are coming from Mexico and take some time to get here.
They look good but are repops and not Ma Mopar but they look a lot better than what I had.

All in all for $38 they are not bad and they do look better than what was there before.
