904 low gear set.

have some rebuilding of things to do on the list this winter. I have a 904 low gear and was wondering what or if there would be any benefit in my combo for it. 340/w2/.590/5.13/29.5x12x15 tire. Happy to give any other info and thanks for the replies.
 
what does the car weight?

and torque converter info?

Doubt it. More for a heavier, lower powered car.
At your light weight and gear its probably the last thing i would look at doing.
Convertor being spot on would be key with a little motor with stock stroke.

I would put it in with the W2 heads imho
 
It has a Dynamic 5500 stall. Very happy with it. I foot brake the car and can get it to hold at 3000 then it starts to push.

With more gear multiplication on the starting line the car will want to start to push at a lower rpm....

as said ..light car...i would stick with the 2.45...

I ran very similar combo to this I had t/a 4600 with flash to 5700,32 inch tire with 5:38 gear, unported W2 head,630 lift roller.
Small 340 with w2 does not make a lot of torque at low rpm.
I would stage a lower rpm with the low gear and it will hit the converter harder. Low gear woke my combo right up.
But every combo is slightly different. Rear gear ratio is tied directly to tire diameter. Just my two cents. You need to experiment.
 
Run the low gear set. I installed a 2.77 first/1.57 second gears in my friends 904,. he runs a 410 small block 68 baracuda and he picked up a tenth in 60 foot alone and over .15 in the qtr mile. His 60s went from 1.45 to 1.35.
