I maybe able to get a 97 Dakota 5.2 and the complete wiring system including the ECM.( The trans is gone). BUT I also know of a possible A500RH/42RH trans.
Since most people say the OBD2 system is better to use (1997), can it be used with the hydraulic RH transmission ?
Will there be an issue with the speedometer/ not using an RE transmission ? and the TC mag pickup ?
I do like having the option of using the factory cruise control with the OBD2. Any input would be great. Thanks

You'll probably get every transmission trouble code the CPU knows. The Dakota most likely had a 46RE (A518, A727 based) which is stronger and should be much easier to find. The later transmission (RE) will be plug-n-play.

Thanks for your reply

"I've been told" that you have to reflash the ECU for a stick, and "I've been told" that if you disconnect the "codes" light(s) it really does not matter. So I really don't know. But there might be more trouble. I tried to disconnect the ABS system in this junker I drive and it kills the speedo. "I've been told" the speedo on those runs off the wheels sensors so I don't know.
