I thought I would share my method of lifting my A-833 4 speed off of and back onto my tall transmission jack.

I use two axle straps and clips and hang them from the front or rear cross bar on my four post lift.
The put one strap around the front bearing retainer and the other around the tailshaft.

Then lift or lower away...

We've gotten old!! When I was young I had trouble with a 4 speed in my then 69RR about 1971. Used to balance it on the huge floor jack we had at the RADAR shop, roll it under, carefully, and then get under there and rassle it into the bell

Some have seen this, I modified a cherry picker (still can be used as an engine hoist) into a trans jack. It is ugly as hell and works like you can't believe

Yes I have gotten old Del. I am now a little over 75.

When I was younger, I didn't think twice about laying on my back on a gravel drive and wrestling the 4 speed in and out.

Now I try to work "smarter" not harder.....

a day late and a dollar short, I just finished install my rebuilt 833 and yea that thing gets heavier every time. Great idea, hopefully I won’t have to do this again but I will definitely keep this idea in mind, thanks for sharing it!
