A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
those Cragars will be custom when fog327 gets done with em'...I'll have to mark the fronts w/ some blue tape so he won't mill the wrong side

the silver paint is the same thing you'd see on a recent....08-09 Dodge pick-up
...nothin' special for me...you know by now how I like things....ordinary!

I like that silver...With black wheels or chrome as I have that would look very nice. AND!! if it scratches it allows you to go get touch up paint

Thanks 74burntorange....hopefully...it's a good color for a "coffee getter"

yeah...I looked at them hard....but not not givin up on the cragars...

I'm gonna cut frog327 loose on em'.....he's a friggin' magician

I had seriously thought about the AR Salt Flats on my GTO. I do like the dog dish caps/deeper wheels, but I think it needs a little bling.

naturally his name is Mark...imagine that!

I don't think you ever met him...but he did all the welding/machining on every modification I did for your Duster...

other than fabbing trans mounts backwards (twice)...he is perfection!

This wheel is available in 15x4.....I could see it stripped and
powder coated (or better yet, anodized) in satin flat-black.

It's also available in a polished chrome-like finish, but not in 15x4.

These Billet Specialities pieces are 15x4 with 2.25" backspacing
and 15x8 with 3.50" backspacing; which is exactly what Denny's
model was for this car. They would look pretty good on silver too!

Wylde....thanks for the support...the Cragars.....just looks soooooo early 70's

amazing how much better is looks with the front bumper adjusted (pulled down)...and a WV alignment....(eyeball)

In some early posts I remember some torque thrust wheels that looked fantastic.
Seemed to have the right vibe. What happenned to those? Will there be a return?

still got em' ...my original thought was ..steelies (car color) on back...torque thrusts on front..

always liked Jimmy Addisons'.. Silver Bullet...silver w/ cragars...classic hot rod

got the cragars tucked in about 3/8" on each side..it just took a big hammer (and adjusting the lower control arms in at the attaching points).....then another WV alignment...(eyeball)

now its lookin' meaner....for a coffee getter that is...

I vote Cragars!

WHEELS CHANGE THE PERSONALITY

After months of searching for a decent pair I found these last
night. Pratically new including the original Fenton center caps.

15 x 3.5 Gyros with no damage, no marks, no corrosion and no
broken center cap screws. 4.5" bolt circle extremely hard to find.

They were NOT cheap.

Today I ordered new tires for the Fentons and a pair of 315/60-15
M/T ET Street Drag Radials for the painted steelies so Denny can
have two complete sets of different wheels and tires.

Next will be some rear Torque-Thrusts (they make the correct size
and offset) to match his TT fronts.

Last will be some front steelies sized like HemiMarks.

This will allow him to have 4 completely different looks; not to
mention being able to pair any of the fronts with the steelie rears.

Biggest hurdle will be ponying up for two more pairs of rear tires!

Those Fentons will look good. I like the look of Aluminum Slots - always did.

Got the Cragars tucked in about 3/8" on each side...........

A note to budding suspension fabricators: notice how the tie-rod and
lower control arm mimic each other in length, angle and points of pivot.

This configuration is what minimizes bump steer.

i know that you may not care, but how much negative camber gain did you lose when shortening the lowers? or did you shorten the uppers to match?

Denny,
The cars looking great, can't wait to see the finished product, the stripe has me very curious.

dusterbd13...sure i care about neg camber gain...don't want to mess up my tires with a screwy alignment.....and Yes I did match the adjustment in the uppers
.....the uppers and lowers are adjustable in (now in the max) and out appx 2".....I screwed the lowers in all the way ...appx 1/4" to 3/8" and realigned the uppers using the stock cam adjusters....
.....I built in adjustment to be able to achieve stock alignment specs (if desired)

the only thing I have to be carefull with is that the coilover doesn't get too close to the original bumpstop on the frame for the lower control arm

Ross....jump in your time machine and go back to 1972 and take a polaroid...no krodachrome....(not sure of the spelling...my spellchecker already went to bed!)

Looking good. Vincent just spied your Duster for the first time and said "theres something different about the fenders" Now that my friend is a well taught A body son! lol I was suprised when he eye balled it.
