Check out this GT that came to me today. I never had an early a body before this one. Not sure what the plan is yet.

It currently has a 273/4 speed/8.75 which is a big plus to me. What year range of Darts can I use for replacement bumpers and trim?

How about the front suspension and floor boards?

Any insight much appreciated.

Nice! You don't see those every day. It wouldn't take much to turn that thing into a street beast. :thumbsup:
 
Probably was a Hot Rod back then.....whenever. Might have been a trip trying to stop.
 
Got an 8.75 too. Somebody checked off some good boxes on the order form way back when. May have been a commando car that had an engine swap at some point in time.

Neither the 8-3/4 or the 273 four barrel were available in 1964. A "Commando" was NEVER available in a Dodge...just like a "Magnum" was never available in a Plymouth...
 
Any thoughts on what brand fenderwell headers to seek out? Hooker 5208's appear to be all that is currently offered. Not sure what it is

Are you saying the 8.75 is swapped in? Did the 273 Commando start in '65?

8.75 : The build sheet would tell for sure. I would have to look up to see if the rear axle was on the fender tag. The early 65's came with 7 1/4" rears and the A861 Power Pack option would damage them. If it was a late built car it could have left the factory with it or was replaced at the dealer. That is what I remember reading which could be wrong info. @65dartcharger would know for sure.


273-4 barrel (Charger 273 in the Dodge's) were first available in 1965.
 
Looks like a car from the valley. There is Wild Cat Auto Wrecking in Sandy Or. Been there many times.

The 8 3/4 was first offered in 66 and the 273 Commando was a Plymouth only engine offered from 65 to 67. The 8 3/4 would not have come as original equipment in a pre 66 Dart.

Perhaps I am mistaken then. It is more than likely a 7.25" rather than the 8.75" as originally stayed. I have a 3.23 742 carrier out of a 66-67 b body. Would that housing fit with a perch relocation?

With all of the other changes it still could very well be an 8 3/4. Sure looks to be one, but perhaps a better photo.

From your pics it looks like an 8 3/4. No bolts holding on a diff cover. It could of been changed out as the 7 1/4 blew.
 
The rear in that picture looks like an 8 3/4. Unless the bolts are too rusty to see from the back. If there are bolts on the back of the pumpkin is not an 8 3/4
 
I like that year dart. I didnt used to but as I get older they look good when done up right them and the early Barracudas.
