So yesterday aft I get some guy to actually call me back on a phlakebook/ marketpharce ad for two old Johnson outboards. He gives me his address but not explicit instructions, and I tell him I'll be there sometime before 10 and I'll call before I leave here, a nearly 50 mile drive
So I get all saddled and fueled up, and call him about 9:40 and nada. Left a message and headed over. I get over there and can NOT figure out where the place is. Finally poked around an ended up down this street / alley and found the address on the mailbox, but this is sideways to the street it's supposed to be ON. I eliminate most of the houses surrounding the mailbox, because they are marked, and called him I guess 8 times all told, no answer.
Finally went back up into town in Spokane, trip to the little room and some orange juice, and left him a message before I hit the freeway. "I called, you aren't here, can't find the house for sure, I won't be back." And hit the freeway. I didn't drive 5 miles and he calls. Turns out he didn't even listen to the message yet, but finally I guess got the hell out of the bag and noticed I'd called. Gave him 80.00 for the two. 60 Johnson 18hp, 66 Johnson 33hp electric start. Both, unfortunately are long shaft. The clamp mechanism on the 33 is all froze up, won't tilt, or swivel, and the clamps are stuck. But both engines turn over, so "we'll see"
You can see "the place" is a real gem. Saw this old Dodge "Hello Lucky" on the way back and thought it was appropriate LOLOL

Nice score Del.

What kind of idiot ignores your calls after you tell him I’m “on the way”

Can’t wait to see them running. I guess the “test barrel” is probably empty this winter, but come Spring I want to see you cruzin the lake.

The test barrel is full of ice!!! The big stainless tub is empty, I never got it finished as lumber spiked and supply went to heck during covid. I likely won't touch either till later. Plus they are long shaft. The 18 would be great on the 12ft Crestliner, but I'll either have to convert it to short with another outboard, or use it for parts to convert another. Or build a jack plate, which I don't want to do

The 33 will likely become a parts motor. Same deal. I've got other 35-40's so the 33 is an odd man out. The clamp won't swivel, tilt, or the clamps move. Completely corroded "froze"
