Actual Build

I'm surprised that you still watch Mr.Rogers. I'm a adult now I don't watch that silly stuff
I never said I watch that sort of show
But I do listen to alot of classic rock, that's why I said I thought of the song I mentioned way before I thought of the kid's show.

I happen to love the Mister Rogers show. I watch it sometimes when I am up early in the mornin. You think it's silly. I think it's wholesome and more of it is what's needed in the world.

We sure could use a lot more caring, forgiving people that's for sure.

What more details can I give you?
What are you building? 'Teener, 360, 273? What are your goals?
Factory heads you can have them gone through, or aftermarket heads you can wait 6 months for and still need to have them gone through... Just sayin'.

Do you actually HAVE something to build yet or is this still imaginary?

This is part of the problem. For us here trying to help, your goals are not clear and your questions are all over the place. Then, you seem to argue. Your best bet is to come up with a goal and make a plan. Let’s start with, “The Goal!”

The answers to these questions are in several of my other posts. There's a lot of different results in which to get better performance results, I'm trying to get it right the first time if at all possible and stay with in a reasonable budget. I don't want to spend a small fortune.
Unless everybody "follows" you as a member, we have no idea what you've posted in other threads. If you're unwilling to supply pertinent info along with your questions, you're obviously not serious about getting legitimate answers. That's just a good way to end up on everyone's "ignore" list.

So… I should now search around like I’m on a treasure hunt looking for your thoughts and wants on a build in a thread you started that is titled “Actual Build” as if your “ACTUALLY BUILDING SOMETHING!”
Are you even close to turning a wrench yet?

Also, after reading some of your replies to some of the members posts here, I gotta tell you, you come off as a dick.

You say you don’t want to purchase parts twice but yet have no freakin idea of what it is you want beyond a very vague description.

Does anyone here even know what he is starting with block wise? How about year, make & model?

I’m on the verge. This thread and his posts are becoming ridiculous.

Alright, since you're CHOOSING to make it difficult, I'm out. You're on the list. I'm not wasting anymore of my time on what might be someone playing around.

I'm done with him. As of now, he's on my ignore list. Yall will be smart to do the same thing.

Same here. I'm guessing a 13 yr. old with too much time on his hands. Sad.
My time is more valuable than this. We all here don't get paid a cent for giving people advice. Some of it's good advice too from fifty or more years experience. I'm going to start using the ignore feature more often. If it continues to happen, I'll be spending less time here. I need to work on some stuff around here, anyway.

Post a pic of your car. I call bs with the title of this thread, being ACTUAL. You've been here for how long? I just went and checked and noticed every thread you've started is a hand holding expedition?
Likes been said you want your hand held and everyone supposed to read your mind?

I agree the world needs more caring people. It could also use smarter ones too:rolleyes:
Pics of car please :bs_flag:

He is making it difficult. I’ve stopped reading this guy’s replies and questions a while back but figured I’d tune in here and I have decided, yep! Rusty is right and I’m out as well. I’ve had enough of this guy.

It's my own fault. I had it coming.

Just slap a stock 360 longblock in it,even a tired one, with; any old 4bbl, dual exhaust, 3.91s, a line-loc, and a 2800TC; then drive it. If it don't smoke the tires, you ain't doing it right.

Dan;
I think I told you this before; Put all the details in your signature.Downsize the font if you need to, cuz you only get about three lines. Then the details will be visible on every single post you make, forever, or until you change that sig. Which you can do at any time. You can see mine , below.

Disagree with the seemingly automatic reply of "slap a 360 in there"
That isn't the automatic solution to every engine question like some people seem to think it is. I've had some 360s that were worse slugs than a typical tired stock /6.
Yes I prefer 318s to most 360s.
The 360s suck *** unless they have had some compression added. I dunno why Mopar had to put dishes pistons in 99% of all the 360s that they ever made.besides being gas sucking pigs

A 360 long block is the way I'm going. The simplest way for me.

Seems like my budget can't support my ideas Lol. Do I need a dual pattern cam? Headers or manifolds. Cylinder heads, 302's or speedmaster cylinder heads? Do I need good port velocity for what I'm wanting to do? Compression ratio most likely 9.25:1. I don't want to put money into factory heads if a good set of aftermarket heads would be about the same money. Stall converter speed 2,400 and a 3.55 gear ratio. Wanting to start getting parts soon Hopefully, I'm trying not to buy things twice or something I don't need for my application.

FOR a streeter;
Whatever you do;
1) do not build to a specific Scr, as it may limit all your other options.
2) Do not build to a specific power output, as it may limit all your other options.
3) Do not build a race-motor for street use, as it may limit all your other options.
4) if you are on a budget, build a 360, it will give you the most bang for the your money, and is the easiest to make budget-power with, and with economy; exactly what makes a streeter satisfying cuz you can drive it everywhere all the time.
5) A streeter needs power/torque at the rpms and speeds that it will be driven at, NOT at high-rpm or hi-speed. So gearing and camming need to be synchronized.
6) don't forget to keep your eye on the future-coming, price of gas, and it's availability. If you build for Premium grade gas, and it disappears from the marketplace, have a back-up plan.
7) Iron heads and 87 gas is a bad recipe for performance with economy.Pick one
8) Alloy heads will allow at least 25/30psi more, still on 87 gas. And a properly shaped combustion chamber is worth about; 5 psi at the limit, and/or one grade of gas, and or one cam-size.
other;
9) in a typical streeter; you do Not need a forged crank, or hi-zoot rods.
10) you don't need long-tube headers with short-period cams. But don't settle for restrictive logs either.
11) you don't need adjustable valve gear for modest-lift HFT cams; that's ~$1000 right there.
12) if you build a 360, you can leave almost any rear gear in the back, so long as it has a SG in it.
13) Put your money into a modest stall TC instead
14) If yur going 4-speed, get a Commando 3.09low.
15) if economy is of concern, get an A833od but you will need to change your engine build slightly to accommodate the especially-wide 1-2 split of 54%
16) if yur not running the rpm up, there is no need for fancy hi-flo heads.
17) if yur buying an exhaust, try to fit the biggest darn head pipes under there that don't scrape on the ground. I run dual 3s right out the back bumper on my 68 Barracuda; there were no fitment issues. Does you 360 need dual 3s? No, not for power.....
18) If you go zero to 60 in 5 seconds, your car will need stoppers and suspension; leave some budget for that
19) spinning ain't winning.
20) 318s cost more money to build. You can get 340/360-type hi-rpm power out of them, or you can get 273-type economy out of them; But you cannot do both with the same engine. And if you bias your 318 for absolute power, it won't dig at typical street-rpms, which, IMO, sucks. Whereas a 360 with even modest pressure digs real fine.
There, now go string your combo together.

Easy as pie....... stock rebuild on a 340.
This on a 360 @ 10.1 (KB 107 pistons)

Not really. I haven't seen a 340 in at least 10 years.
Do the same thing to a 360, upgrade the intake, carb & exhaust as time and money allow. Cam change optional.

Same deal with a Magnum engine. No piston change. Add intake, carb, headers and a cam. Call it a day.

Spend on a good converter!
The Commando 3.09 trans is hard to find.
Skip it.
The OD 833 is easy to find but not the bell housing.
Skip it.

Bad idea. 2-1/2 dual exhaust with an H pipe is the best idea for modest power. 3 inch can possibly be a power looser and for sure, a noise maker. Needlessly.
19) spinning ain't winning.
AJ thinks nobody has control over there right foot.
