Getting ready to have my front buckets redone. Already ordered the seat covers and foam. While I'm having it done is it possible to add headrests?
If so, anyone know of a web site where I could buy all the pieces needed?

Wow, think I'm going to pass on adding headrests! I think I just found the
parts I need at the Paddock website. $399 for 68 headrests and $172 for a
67 headrest rebuild kit - a bit too pricy for me. It's costing me $675 for the
seat covers and foam for the front 2 buckets and found one guy that will do
it for $300-400. For the price of the parts I don't want to attempt to do it
myself.

If your seat backs have the provision for the headrests, you can do what i did to my 69 Dart buckets. Add the hardware for the headrests, while your having them recovered. Then at a later date look for a pr. of headrests.

Sorry, but I don't know what "have the provision for the headrests" means.
Is there a frame or something in the seat back I should look for? I'm going to
take the buckes apart before I take them over the the upholster guy to save
a few dollars. I'm "assuming" there should be some sort of frame of something
the headrest tubes could bolt too???

I know PG Classics and I assume BEA sell all the brackets and hardware to add headrests. They also sell the headrests seperately, none of this stuff is cheap, but at least they are making it.

I think the oval headrests are ugly and might look better in a ford. Just my opinion.

Yes, not all buckets seat backs have the holes in the top of the seat backs for the hardware. You will know right off if your seats do when you take the old covers off.

I work weekend nights so will get to tear the seats apart this week
sometime to check them out. Haven't seen any headrests yet for a
67 and don't know if I care for the ones on a 68 or not. (am yet
"assuming" the 67s are a little different since it has a different part
number for the headrest mount rebuild kit). Thanks for all the help. I
didn't even know about PG Classics or BEA web sites. I'm bumming
because I sent my 67 front and rear arm rest bases out for rechrome and
I could of bought new ones from PG Classics for around the same price.

I bought my hardware from PG. Worked out great.

Well, found the kit to put in the seats for the 67 headrests from BEA for $125. I looked up the headrest in my 67 Bishko parts book and they do not look like the 68-89, not oval, wide at bottom, narrow at top - just what I wanted. Called up Mike at BEA and he measured the width of the 68 headrests 8 3/4" center to center on posts, my 67 seats are 7 1/2". He wondered why nobody was buying the headrest rebuild kits - it's because nobody sells 67 headrest. He didn't know of anyone who reproduced the 67 headrest. My book show the 67 Valient, Barracuda, and Dart all use the same headrest. Needless to say, did not order the 67 headrest rebuild, no since in ordering if nobody makes the headrest.

Your right, I used 68 buckets out of a barracuda in my 69 Dart and they measure about 8 1/2". They're some weird things on a 67 I guess because it was a transition year between the old body style and the newer style. I'm restoring a 67 GTS 383 Dart with a friend of mine and we keep running into little issues like this.

You supported an Americam business by restoring your original parts rather than buy 'made in china' ? Dont be bummed , be proud !

Didn't know those arm rest bases came from China. They are supposed to be done in 2 weeks so we'll see on what the price is. Am assuming it will be $50--$75 from their web site which is OK.
