Any good/bad experiences? Going into a '70 swinger, car is completely apart so fab work isn't a deal breaker. Car didn't have factory A/C... Thanks

Welder,
I just got back my stock system from Classic Auto Air, so far I am happy, should have it in and running in a week or so.

I am also putting in a modern system from them as well in my 1965 Valiant, so far no issues.

I've used both stock and Vintage Air and Heat units... None better than the Vintage units

Most people today use a Sanden compressor for retrofits. You need brackets that match your engine (only you know what that is). Several companies make them (search here). One is Bouchillon Performance I recall. Brackets for a slant six are rarer. I got them cheap off a Volare slant w/ a Sanden compressor mounted. For a cheapie approach, plumb to an under-dash unit, either a vintage used one or new (~$100 ebay). Vintage and Classic Air systems are not cheap and they sometimes leave the customer to work it out.
