Wow, all i have to say is buyer beware! I sold a car a year ago which I owned for 33 years....found it for sale online recently....mileage was rolled back 70K....added 18K over what i sold it for.....I was the 4th owner in this state....went a couple of states away........so for shits and giggles I called the number and played the game........guy said local 1 owner trade....20K miles.....blah blah blah......I have no interest in getting the car back but goes to show you, BUYER BEWARE!

I saw my old 73 340 4 Speed Dart Sport advertised on FABO as an original California car . I know for a fact it is an original Idaho car.

Give the seller the information, it may have been misrepresented to him. It never hurts to try & correct the information on the car if done correctly. If they get argumentative, tell them "sorry, just trying to make things right" & leave it at that.

In 1991, I traded a 1969 Charger RT/SE for a Sig Sauer P226. I got the better deal. Got the car from an ex co worker who was honest about it. It was a twice repainted POS! The guy I traded it to sold it and it was then put up for sale as s # matching car. It had a 68 station wagon 383 in it that i helped install, but was advertised as a 440 magnum!

Buyer beware!!

I know of two different 70 hemi cuda's I was very familiar with in the late 70s. I've seen magazine articles on them with the most outlandish stories about them that don't begin to resemble the truth. There are real cars, but no one should be paying more than market for a story.

Did you call the guy out on it? I would have.

No I did not....I was just laughing uncontrollably under my breath listening to his lies....I was biting my tongue.....it did change hands again since I sold it so maybe the guy isn't aware of the shenanigans by him or the previous owner...I am not going to provide any links to the car on here but it it is still currently for sale........If someone does their research and wants to know the truth about the car before they buy it and they are actually interested in the car I will tell them the truth.....BUYER BEWARE is all I have to say

Believe about half of what you hear from a unknown seller. Unless it is documented and then be careful with that.

We could have a lot of fun around here answering the ad and asking painful questions! C'mon Paul, let us have some fun and give this clown his just desserts!

I would ..but it is a "classic car" business that has currently about 75 cars for sale....and a lot of high dollar classics up into the 6 figures...so it is not an individual private ad...

Back in the early 80's, a car dealership in my hometown was caught rolling odometers back.
Best I remember, they had received a jeep on trade in. It was setting outside over night.
Late at night, a local state trooper, who was on patrol, drove through the lot. He was interested in a jeep, so he stopped to check it out. He thought it was pretty nice, but had high mileage.
A few days later, he got to thinking, even with the high mileage, he may consider it, if the price was right.
Going back to the dealership, he discovered that the jeep now had way less mileage......
People went to jail over this, and IMO should.

With all the auction houses and a good deal of the resto shows preaching "what people want is a good story, which really adds value", I'm surprised there aren't even more outlandish and un-provable stories.

Really, sir I DONT CARE that this is the car that your daughter learned to drive in (that actually happened to me, and he wanted a premium because it was "a very special car").

happens all the time.. i saw my old demon here on this site. somewhere along the line it went to the west coast. owner claimed it to be an original 340 car. i pulled the slant out of it so i know it wasn't a 340 car..lol.. after i told him numerous times it was a real slant six car he stopped posting here. i'm thinking the guy i sold it to swapped vin tags.

Yeah, I get your point. But if the owner of the car dealership didn't do it, maybe he would want to know? People are messed up these days.
