I always like the Fuel ALtereds. Back in the day at Englishtown, and National (out on Log Island) and once i a while at Great Meadows, and Atco.

Altereds have always been cool!
I'm so bummed that I'm missing the California Hot Rod Reunion and the cacklefest today! It's been on my calendar all year up - but a car club buddy is having his wedding reception today and plans had to change.
Next year for sure!

My two favorite photos of "The Winged Express" taken decades apart and by different photographers. You could "set this up" every day and try this and you couldn't duplicate these two shots. One of course was the original, driven by Willie, and one, a few years ago, driven by Mike Boyd

What is even more amazing is how close the two cars are in "evolution." Obviously the rebuilt car had to be made to "one" of the many changes over the years. They ran different motors, blowers, and injector setups. The fact that these two cars is that close is amazing.

Now you're talking my language! This whole A Body parts thing I do is leading to finishing the AA/FA I'm currently building in my garage. 120 inch WB Bantam body and Mopar Wedge power this time around.
My last one was in Hot Rod back in 97.

Some great pictures. The very early picture looks to have a chain driven blower.
Never seen a cover like that one.

Never straight...............always forward!

Chain drive was not uncommon in the 60's, and not un-frightening, either, lol.
There were also a number of rigs where the blower was mounted in front of the engine, and the blower drive was driven DIRECTLY off the crank shaft. Talk about scary.

Over drives were also made up for this purpose.

The early picture of the Wing, and the later ones are all the same car, and exact replicas of it. Original car was run from 59 through 72. The one car that appears to be different was run for one season (1970) and crashed.
