I believe that Mercury Outboards cast the first aluminum blocks for the ZL1 CorvetteI had a 2004 mini cooper that had a Chrysler engine. It had the horrible CVT transmission which was made by ZF who used to make performance transmissions for the ford GT40 and the like, sad they came out with such a bad transmission nowadays.

Not bad considering a roof fell down on it a number of years ago and bent the rood down. I cut the glass out of it which didn't get broken funnily enough and he put a new roof and 1/4 on it. He did a rotisserie on it and took it to a big AMC meet in Kenosha and won first prize with it.Wow. beautiful. What a good looking car.
Always loved that car.

Chrysler looked into that in the early 2000's,but their chronic money problems put an end to it.Ah, maybe the Ger-MINI did get the Chrysler engine I read about? ZF or any CV trans....oy vey! The CV Justy almost bankrupted Subaru. Why not just run a gas motor at the most efficient speed to turn a generator and power the car with electric motors? like a Diesel electric train? To inefficient?
The AMC Pacer (or fishbowl as we call it) was designed to use the Wenkle Rotary engine but don't think it ever went into production. AMC was way ahead of it's time in some instances and they made some fast cars.
