And it begins....

sweet where are you putting the fuel filler? or are you gonna run a cell?

Well im not sure exactly, but the plan right now is to run the stock tank and modify the filler neck to tuck the gas cap closer to the floor....just need to make sure there is going to be an alternative vent so there isn't fumes in the trunk.

Congrats on getting into the "young guns" section in mopar muscle magazine! looks nice!

Awesome work bud, you sure have learned alot since you got your Duster!!

New tool box and stuff!

bought a new Matco four series tool box and some tools. Couldnt resist since our school gets 65% off Matco products. Also just bought the Miller professional series welding helmet....I can honestly see a major improvment in my welds compared to using the old school flip type welding helmet. Well worth the money.

Nice. I am working a deal for a factory 70 Air Grabber air filter for my car. I want to build a box and everything someday.

Your car is coming along great.

How is the weather up there? I am getting a little nervous about going up there next week. I hate driving in the snow.

hey, thanks, I am actually going to make the air grabber setup too, have a few parts collected. that stuff is crazy expensive right now.

weather was pretty good till today, dropped down to about 30 degrees out and a few snowflakes came down.....Im sure it wont be long till we start getting alot more of the white crap.

Air grabber stuff always has been crazy, I think I am going to try to build my own box since I am using the single scoop. So lucky for me, the only real air grabber stuff I need is the filter. I look forward to your build.

I have also always wanted to move the fuel filler. I was going to put the cap in the trunk and run the vent out under the car. You would have to put the hose higher than the tank. I was planing on putting it in the inside of the wheel arch right above the pumpkin.

Ya, I am worried about the snow. It's only a matter of time before its here. Do you know of any good wrecking yards up there? If I had the time, I would like to go see some when I get up there.

what a cool school! maybe next year when im done with my current school, my old lady will let me go there.

Hey man, maybe I will see you there! I am really considering going to this school now. I had heard about it before but had never had the chance to talk to anyone that goes there... until now.

Thanson... how is the school itself? And do you live close to it?

theres some good yards in south dakota, here in rapid city there is Moores salvage....he only has old cars. Also in southeast is brad harms....he only does mopars....if there is something you cant find he has it. I can get you phone numbers to both phone numbers if your interested.

I was planning on a sealed gas cap and putting a vent twards the top of the tank.....not sure how im going to set it up but I will post pics.

absolutely man, this school is the best as far as I'm concerned....I went to wyotech and this school makes wyotech look like a joke. Doug LaRue is a great guy, give the school a call and tell him I sent you.... I live about 3 hours away from here (originally from south dakota). If you want to go to school for custom cars than this is the school you want.

the school is great because its small...much better than a big school like wyotech. we have access to english wheels, bead rollers, welders, ect... Rapid City is pretty cool too.

Thanks for the info man! How much is the cost of living and crap there? I don't exactly live close. And if you don't mind another question... how much does it cost?

Getting the lower quarter test fitted

This is just the "rough" cut, used air hammer with a cutting tip, found a few rust spots (especially in the trunk extension) that I had to make patches for.
15959_181667308654_506553654_2805867_416806_n.jpg

I made about four patches, two for the extension an and a few for the inner fender well.

Covered it in POR-15, turned out nice
15959_181667313654_506553654_2805868_331517_n.jpg

These are NOT my wheels, but I have been thinking about some bigger wheel/tire combo's....so my instructor told me to put his 17's from his delivery sedan on...what do you think? I dont think they look too big, kinda like them, might look into some 17 inch wheels all the way around.
15959_181667318654_506553654_2805869_2500267_n.jpg

Got the panel fitting better so I drilled the Cleko holes with a 1/8 inch drill bit, still on the rough cut.
15959_181667323654_506553654_2805870_6608369_n.jpg

here is the final cut, still have some small trimming to do but came pretty close to where I want it. Just scribed around the pannel and used a 3 inch cutting wheel to cut.
15959_181667328654_506553654_2805871_4440233_n.jpg

Pretty close! just have some very small adjustments/trimming to do then should be ready to weld.

like hemizach i have been considering this school as well. anyway i could get ahold of you to ask you some questions?

Car is looking good.

On the wheels: I think they look totally freakin sweet, that picture makes me want to outspend my budget and buy those wheels specifically.
Its one of the reason's I've been looking for something 17'' or larger for my 74.

thanks for the wheels comment, Im seriously thinking about running 17's now, the more I look at the picture the more I want 17's.

ok i have a q whatadvantages do you get from having ur subframe connectors set up like that? usualy they just go long ways so why the extra parts on yours?

Tyler.

Since he is looking at building more a Pro-Touring type car, the car needs to be more ridged in more ways than just launch. So if you connect the frames together, from the side as well. The car will have virtually no twist what so ever. Plus, he has his cage tied into the subframe. That way the car is even more solid and if the unthinkable ever does happen, the car will hold up allot better as the cage isn't just bolted/welded to sheet metal.

And let me say, after seeing the car in person. That whole set up looks very nice and sturdy.
