Hey Folks, finally got my ride on the road and would like to add a little extra grunt. Unlike most I am not looking for quarter mile full throttle acceleration. My car is built to handle and I'm looking for a strong mid to mid upper range cam to pull through the corners. A soft bottom end isn't much of a concern as I don't do much town driving or dead stop drag racing.I will be upgrading my engine at some point in time but for now this little small block works so why toss it. I also haven't picked an intake yet, thinking simple dual plane here with a 600 carb. Name of the whole build has been budget, so no exotic roller cams or such please.

Current Combination
1969 Dart 4 Door
273 V8 - Bone Stock - Advertised 9.0 to 1 compression.
Intake - To be determined.
Carb - I have a 600 Holley and a 650 Carter Competition on the shelf.
Dougs d453 long tube headers.
Jegs full 2.5" exhaust with Turbo Mufflers
Skip White HEI distributor, MSD coil, 8mm MSD wires.
904 transmission with TF-2 kit
Stock Factory Converter 1600-2200
3:73 gears
26" tall tires

2nd Gear:
50mph is 3500rpm
60mph is 4200 rpm
70mph is 4900 rpm

In high gear:
50mph is about 2500 rpm
60mph is 3000rpm
70mph is 3500rpm
This is where the car spends most of its time.

Thanks in Advance , curious to see what's recommended.

Compression ratio? Solid or hydraulic cam(which rockers do you have)? Torque converter stall speed?

Stock Compression so advertised 9.0 to 1 ? As far as a I know non adjustable rockers so hydraulic, stock converter.

A can like a Comp XE262 would fit well.
A Edelbrock Performer intake would work well.

I have an Edelbrock Streemaster 318 intake, it's a small plenum single plane intake that's supposed to make good tourque. But I've read a lot of guys that say it falls on its face at 4500rpm.
