the shock bolt in the help section? not sure how it would work. have not investigated it yet. i think i have another one like it in my pile somewhere. what say you? tia.

Some vehicles come with similar from factory,
I've used as shown in Post #6, a few times thru the years, worked okay, none came back.

Cut the broken bolt off flush
Drill and tap the shaft
Get a bolt with a long thread section.
  1. Cut the broken bolt off flush
  2. Drill and tap the shaft
  3. Get a bolt with a long thread section
  4. Cut it to fit.
  5. add some locktight
  6. Put the shock on
  7. Washers and nut.
All in, $5.00!


The nut and washer only keep the shock in place, minimal forces get applied to them.
 
I have used the replacement stud you weld in but now I would just machine one up on the lathe. I got to the point where I just heat the nut with a torch and have never broke one since I started doing that. Use plenty of anti-seize when you put it back together.
