Anyone Gotten a Speeding Ticket Lately?

-
I got pulled over for a legit tailite out.
As I'm leaning on the back of my car, looking at the cruiser, takin a lecture about the "driver of the vehicle was responsible for it's being roadwrthy, not the owner, my mother", as he's writing the ticket.
When he hands me the ticket, I point out that one of his front sidelights is out.
He looks at me, eyes a little bulgy, I ask if he want to rip up my ticket, he explains once it's in print, it can't be un-writen.
He looks at me a few seconds, turnred the page of his book, and wrote himself a ticket, right there in front of me.
For years later when-ever we saw each other, we'd shake a "accusing" pointed finger at each other, and laugh.

I bet his got ripped up.... :D

Uh, illegals have been able to get a drivers license in Ca for quite sometime now. And thanks to Moonbeam, my license is no longer a valid form of id for the TSA.....must get a license that has some other stuff on it for an extra cost. Now that’s BS!

If you have a Current Passport or Military ID you don't need to pay extra for the Real ID Drivers License unless you do it for convenience.

You think the cops have it all over you, deal with CPS when an asshole makes a hotline call just to start **** and knows you're innocent anyway.

That’s true, but “WE Citizens” should not have to rely on our Military or Veterans ID Card.

Not speeding,been lucky!

Did get a photo red light ticket following my brother through Wilmington ND though.

Just received a camera ticket in the mail, darnit Darnstown, MD.
Knew it was there, totally forgot about it. Sucks getting old.

The last time I got pulled over for speeding was in 2007. I hand the cop my driver's license and my retired military ID. He hands back my military ID and says "I don't need this". Damnit!!

I just whip out the old Marine Corp badge and off I go. lol

I got a ticket on my bike once.
Careless And Impudent - 'leaning back and forth within my lane'.

I told the cop I wanted to be sure and use up the tread on the sides of the tires. I still got it tossed.
My sons buddy got a ticket for dodging potholes in a gravel road. Said he was weaving. ,,l,,

I take it that is only in Arizona?

It's a little confusing..Arizona offers it now for an extra fee and after Oct 1st,2020 if you don't pay the fee for the Real ID Compliant License you can still use a current Passport, military ID, ETC. Of course it's Government so it could change with the wind. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain it better.
The following states/territories are compliant with the REAL ID Act:
  • Alabama.
  • Arizona.
  • Arkansas.
  • Colorado.
  • Connecticut.
  • Delaware.
  • DC.
  • Florida.

other side of the coin, i would be perfectly fine with service members being given the extra convenience of using their military ID instead of a license or passport

Haven't got one lately but when and if I happen to get one it'll be squashed!!

I had Highway patrol pull me over in West Texas nothing around had cruise on at 70 was speed limit. He said my 3rd brake light was out and gave me a warning. I told him if he didn’t pull me over he and I would not have known my brake light was not working because I didn’t put on brakes until he was right behind me I thought he was going to pass me. He then called me a smart *** and I asked him for his fishing license. All he could say was to fix my light.

Maybe he was going to pass you...until he saw your brake light out when you hit the brakes.

Not a chance he pulled off in the weeds before I left the crime scene. To set another hook.:mob:
He wasn’t serious about fishing much if he let you go with a verbal warning. He could have easily written you up. I guess he was after a better fish.

You weren't driving a barracuda, were you ?

Ok so I didn’t read all these comments but I’m replying to the first couple comments between Ddaddy and 318willrun.

Our local fire, police and sheriffs departments had an event this evening for the community to come out, see the vehicles and interact with the officers and firefighters. So the wife n I were talking to one of the police and he told us “In the past 4 years I probably haven’t given out a ticket for speeding. I don’t care if people speed, I speed everyday on my way to work. The only reason I pull someone over that’s speeding has a headlight or taillight out is it gives me an excuse to stop them and sniff the car out to check for drugs.” (The local drug task force just busted a guy with nearly a pound of meth in his car, got a warrant for his house and found another pound+, a buttload of cash. Street value of the meth was over $90k)

Anyway, he went on to say that he rarely gives a ticket for the “reason” he pulls someone over. He did have a guy awhile back that was a pain in the *** and was mouthing off so they gave him a ticket for his tail light that was out, then while they were there, he threw a cigarette butt out, there’s a $500 littering fine! :D

Marge and I were just talking about getting pulled over a few days ago and I’ll tell all of y’all what we tell everyone, if they ask if you know why they pulled you over, never meantion why (even if you know) and be respectful!! I guarantee a persons attitude determines the outcome of the traffic stop far more often than it doesn’t!

With all that said, I thing Gunbunny’s situation was BS. I’m perfectly fine with cops pulling someone over as an excuse to see if they’re intoxicated but they better have a legit reason for the traffic stop to start with!!
