Anyone into old minibikes?

We were looking at the modern Honda Trail. I don’t know though, would like to have a vintage bike but the new ones are much more road friendly. We’re 15 miles outside of town on 45 mph roads. The lake is 5 miles away on 55 mph highway. The new ones are sorted out really well and even have ABS. $4000 msrp

The early models of them things were BULLET PROOF . Try as we did, we couldn't hurt it.

:lol:Right about sunset I went to town. Did my errand, took a little cruise. What do I see? 4 12 or 13 year olds on the main drag at rush hour on mini bikes. In the traffic lane, no lights, no reflectives, no personal safety gear, out in the commuter traffic :BangHead:

I was given this one by a buddy that moved years ago. Planned on having my kids help me put it back together. No idea what year/make it is.

The only mini bike I would own would have to be a Taco.
Had one when I was a kid with a 3hp Briggs, and then Dad put in a 5hp with a Sachs front end !!!! That was a bad mama jama. :p

I acquired this a while ago, it was My late cousins in the '70's, one day I'll have the time to make it whole again...

I had a Rupp Scrambler much like this one when I was a kid, except mine didn't have the TC cover when I bought it. Dad told me not ride it until we got the cover replaced, but I knew better...

Until I took it out one afternoon (dad wasn't home) and my left pant leg got caught in one of the TC weights and pulled my leg-in....

20+ stitches later (I could see my own bones), and a one year ban from riding it, not to mention the v-shaped scar on my shin that I still carry with me to this day.... I learned my lesson.

I recall my Honda Mini Trail 50 being $249 brand new. For another hundred Santa could have gotten me the 70 that had spring sticks at both ends  . The 50 just had front suspension

Here's one of each.

Dang, wish I still had them! I drove the bejesus out of both of them.

Love this thread, such me memories.

I have this Briggs 5 hp engine off a late 60s log splitter. Anyone Interested? It did run when I pulled it off. $25 takes it.

this doesn’t hold a candle to the cool mini bikes you guys are posting. I have a feeling it’s way to new, but it’s a mini at the motocross track.

Last year this came to me as a rusty garbage in cardboard boxes. Lots of elbow grease later…
