need some advice on mufflers.

I ran the old thrush turbo 400 mufflers (oval, reversible, 14" in length) for about 20 years on my truck. they sounded perfect, deep tone when idling and not loud under full throttle , no blatting sound or resonance- you just heard the engine at wot and the secondaries not muffler blat' - cant find em any more
anyway I've bought magnaflows and took them off because they were too loud and now I have dynamax super turbos and I,m not happy with them - not bad but loud at wot

the question is that thrush makes what they call just a thrush turbo muffler...are they the same as the old turbo 400's or are they the same as the dynomax's (I think thrush/dynomax are owned by the same co.)

has anyone used the thrush's lately or could anyone shed a little light on this before I waste more money and time

Well I recently installed some Thrush mufflers on my Barracuda/340 setuo with Doug's headers. i di it mostly as a quick temporary setup to get the car drivable this Summer while I continue to work on it. I have the mufflers mounted under the rear seat area and no tailpipes or crossover pipe of any kind.
I kinda like the way it sounds, actually!

here are a couple of video clips, hope you have good speakers or headphones to hear the tone.

thanks fof the vids....the first video give me some info, a nice rumble at idle but not blat when you give her, it sounds good, a nice performance sound...especially with no tailpipes

P.S. were they the oval ones with the crimped ends or the welded ones?

I'm about to run the Theush Turbo mufflers. They sound perfect for most set ups IMO and there prices right. Good sound, no "Blat" just rumble like a muscle car should sound like.
As one neighbor described it as, "hushed violence."

I'm running Thrush Welds they've got a nice tone to them and are quite inside.

The welded ones are chambered, like the flowmasters and similar mufflers. The others are three pass traditional old turbo-style mufflers. :)

We used to use the old Thrush beer can header mufflers, but now you see um on Ebay for 300 bucks each.

I have a 3" Thrush muffler on my F-150 & I'm happy with the way it sounds. Nice deep mellow rumble.
I loved the way the old old thrush mufflers used to sound. They need to bring them back!!
