No big secret that we are under a record setting heat wave here wave her in the NW. We live just off of Long Lake/Lake Spokane?Spokane River, just depends who you ask. We live at the bottom of the "loop" that goes in and out of our 'hood. On either dirt road that enters our 'hood signs are posted. Private road..No lake access. I am sitting here at my computer working on various different projects. So far this weekend I have seen at least a dozen vehicles, with boats in tow, traveling our bumpy *** dirt road.
Yesterday was a rare day. I went out the front door to turn the tree water off and our 5 dogs stayed inside. Don't know why, we don't have a/c, only a bunch of fans running. Anyway, before turning the water off I often check the emitters on each tree to make sure they are flowing. I was walking along our property line that boarders the road and here comes one of these folks. Brand new one ton diesel Dodge dually...lifted, aftermarket wheels etc....I don't know much about boats but I do know the one that was behind this truck looked very similar to one that cost a friend a few years back a tick under $65k. This guy stops and asks how to get to the lake. "Can't get there from here". Dumbfounded look from the driver. I asked him if he knew how to read...he said of course...asked him if he saw the sign on the road he used to get down here...said he did. So I am standing there...hoping that Ernie sees me talking to this guy and opens the front door which..well...the hounds would have come charging..but she did not. I started walking and he asked again...how to get to the lake...I just kept on walking.

Not 100% positive about this but in order to use the counties boat launches I believe you need to have a DNR pass....which costs a whopping $30@year. If you don't want to buy a pass I think there is a day fee...something like $10...for access to the lake. Hmmmm.....can afford an $80-90k truck....a $60k+ boat but can't afford a $30 year pass...

In the time it took me 2 more idiots just went down the road....:rofl::rofl:

Can't fix stupid, but clearly you can now charge for it.

The trouble with passes here is that they don't cover all the ramps. I can not name them all. USFS, BLM, city, et c etc etc not all are covered. So this means that you have to pay anyway about half the time. The powers that be need to get on the damn stick and make up a permit that is fair to everybody.

Not 100% sure...but on one of the maps I have looked at our area is considered to be part of Riverside State Park. I know on the road leading to the one ramp there is a DNR pass required sign. The camp ground just down the road also has a DNR pass required sign.. But I do know what you mean. Just down the road from us is that effing boat dock. Avista decided the area needed one put in. It is only a boat dick, not a launch. Did not take long before the road leading to it seen a **** load more traffic. Keep in mind that our roads are privately maintained, according to every Stevens County Sheriffs deputy I have spoken with that mean these people are trespassing to get to the dock. Don't know exactly what that means. Avista had a day use only sign up there for years..but last I heard no one is claiming ownership of the dock. Avista claims to have given it to DNR. Contact DNR about people being down there at night...they want nothing to do with it. Only thing that gets an immediate response is a fire....of which we normally have a t least 2 per summer.

Ernie went shopping today. I think the truth is she just needed some alone time but well....anyways....I called her when she was in town and asked her to look at the couple boat launches, they all had the same sign..DNR pass required.....
