Not quite sure about the arm rests? Maybe the headrests? If so, they were purchased new from Classic Industries in black. We also purchased the dark green interior color from them also, cleaned them thoroughly, masked them off, sprayed on some plastic/vinyl adhesion promoter, then sprayed with the dark green. Ben.

That is what I needed to know
Thanks

Getting ready to install the steering column, but ran into a small problem that was solved using the 'search' feature here at FABO. I decided to rebuild the steering coupler with all new parts purchase for about 12.00 dollars from my local Mopar dealer. It included the shoes, spring and misc. roll pins, as well as the upper seal and seal retainer. Here is where the problem arose; trying to get the upper seal retainer tabs bent so that the upper seal would not 'pop' loose and throw grease everywhere. Try as I might the tabs would not hold to the coupler satisfactorily. Finally after beating the retainer to the point where it could not be used, I threw up my hands in frustration and decided I would do a 'search' on FABO and see if anyone else had some suggestions on how to assemble the coupler correctly without the retainer popping off the first time the steering wheel was turned. Low and behold I found someone going through the same issues, and another member 'rmchrgr' providing a solution. I ordered this simple seal from steerandgear.com and the problem was solved! Thanks FABO for providing a way to search out answers to problems we run into with our rebuilds!

Also some pictures of the new driveshaft. Ben.

On your dart is there a vent line that runs down the filler neck? If so can you take pics having a terrible time figuring out how it goes back on and didn't get a good photo before I disassembled mine. Thanks in advance.

Here are some pictures of the filler tube off of the car. Hope this helps. Ben.

a few more parts installed on the dash assembly. The green looks a lot brighter in the pictures, probably because of the flash used with the pictures. Looks much better in person! My apologies for the number of pictures of a lot of incidental parts! My goal for this thread is to have what I used to do with a scrap book......to have a complete history of each and every thing that was done to this car, that would be not only bring enjoyment and satisfaction to look at in the future, but might also be a handy tool to have if I ever decide to sell this car in the future. Ben.

a little more Saturday afternoon work.....I can't hardly wait for the temperatures to drop and all of these little blood sucking mosquitoes freeze to death! Ben.

by the way, I know the rear brake hose is attached incorrectly to the body mounting bracket.....pointing the wrong way. It has been corrected. Thank goodness for pictures taken two years ago to help see the way things are supposed to be!

well 2 1/2 years later and things are much closer to completion!

Saw a thread by Tony Fields on project costs.....thinking of adding all those prices on that thick folder of receipts up, but don't know if my heart could handle it! Original budget was 15k, but I'm pretty sure it will end up being twice that, if not more.........without even considering the cost of my labor! Ben.

It seems the Dart is getting all of my attention the past number of Saturday afternoons! Certainly have enjoyed putting this car back together.

Some pictures of some more progress......front to rear fuel line and brake lines. Also some pictures of the rear exhaust hangers that were part of the Accurate Exhaust system.

I have been trying to find a reverse lock out linkage assembly for a manual transmission, as this car originally had a column shift automatic. To say they are hard to find is an understatement! Some pieces are available from Brewers, but several pieces seem to be A body only, and Brewers has mostly B and E body parts. I've decided to try and modify the auto column shift linkage cross shaft, add a few parts from Brewers and see if I can make a set up that will function properly. The last picture is of the lay out I'm going to try and use with the part of the inner arm needing removal and reinforcing marked with 'x' s. Ben.

managed to get the front fuel hose and upper line from the fuel pump to the fuel filter installed, as well as the washer hoses and nozzles installed. Also installed the retainer clips that hold the front windshield and back glass chrome trim installed.

Was also able to rewrap the under dash rally gauge wiring harness and the dash to rear wiring harness as they were in in excellent condition. Purchased some cloth wiring wrap and they came out looking really nice. Getting ready to put the car on the ground so we can fit the fenders, hood and deck lid properly. Will install the exhaust and lockout linkage after color sanding and buffing and the fuel tank, which is back ordered, is installed. Ben.

FINALLY!.......back on the ground! Filled up the differential and manual transmission with fluids. Need to get the fenders, hood and trunk lid lined up with proper gaps, and still need to color sand and buff, but the car is finally sitting on all four tires. I really like the height of the body front to rear, although maybe just a little too low in the front?! Ben.

looks like I have a box of front door regulators and rear quarter panel regulator parts that are all cleaned up and waiting to be installed.

managed to get the door handles, door latches and release handles installed, as well as the vent window assemblies and roof rail weatherstrip assemblies. Installed them dry...not sure if they are supposed to be glued in or not?!

also installed some of the under hood wiring and chrome tail pipe tip hangers. Ben.

WELL DONE !!! Where does the second horn get mounted ?

not sure if the Dart had a second horn. There is a spot about 6-8 inches below where the first horn is mounted that is where another horn would mount, but I don't see any indications that show that one was ever there. Maybe as a base model there was only one, and a second one would have been optional. I'm sure someone knows the answer?! Ben.

ran into a small problem with a new left front door latch. The old latch had sustained quite a bit of damage where the striker bolt continuously hit it, when the door dropped because of bad hinge pins and bushings.

I bought a new latch from one of the suppliers which came in a box marked '68 Dart/Barracuda/Valiant. Everything looked good except it did not have the lever for the inside door lock linkage. Simple enough!! Just take the correct lever from the old latch and install it on the new latch. WRONG!! Now I had an inside lock linkage hook up, but I lost the capability to open the door from the inside. It seems there were several other levers that had to be changed to have all functions. Mission accomplished and the latch works perfectly fine! Just another modification to make new parts work on old cars!

Also a shot of the new radio speaker with wires and brackets attached. Ben.
Ben.

getting ready to install the steering column when I noticed the coupler upper bushing that I purchased, (see post 254 above) seems to have split at the top! Not sure if there was some sort of defect in the product or what?!

Decided to try to install the OEM upper shaft seal and retainer. We manufactured a tool to help install the upper retainer. Seems to work well and we were able to keep the retainer stationary and crimp all of the tabs without movement.

Also some pictures of the column installed.......some touch up will be necessary, but went in without too much effort. Ben
