chebbie and phord? Are they what grown ups call Chevy and Ford?
Grown ups = boring. Maybe you have grown up, but I refuse.
Then your body is rebelling! ...and leave my stick alone!
That fits since I am a rebel.
Seen this several places but When I work on anyting it gets a full inspection. Rods have parting lines polished, blocks are deburred, heads runners are massaged intakes are port matched and everything is visually inspected. Maybe two or three times. Anyone who throws parts at their motor cant bitch about the consequences. Its all in the attention to quality and detail.
Same here Pete! :-D I realized yesterday the extreme I go to sometimes being an anal Virgo perfectionist ... this is the 1 inch air cleaner wing nut. And it needed deburred LOL View attachment 018 - Copy.jpg View attachment 021 - Copy.jpg The best advice to be gleaned from all of this is to thoroughly inspect your parts.
Leanna, you have pretty nuts.
Leanna, you are one of my hero's. Thank you.
Well said bloke, well said.
Nothing mass produced is going to be perfect 100% of the time. Stuff like this can and does happen, not just to morosso. I think the OP did what was necessary and warned people that it could happen on this product. I am not quite sure how Rick can claim no valve covers in stock or new ones out there can't have those a similar problem. A flashlight and a mirror could be inexpensive peace of mind.
So darn true Pete, I had a friend years ago that needed an intake for his 318, he knew I most likely had one sitting around and called, I said pick one out but if he wanted a 4 barrel I have them locked up in my shop (I was at work on the phone with him) so he called back and said he picked out a blue one with a carb on it and wanted to know if he should take the carb off before he took it home, I said no, take the hole thing, It turned out his old 2 barrel intake was broken at the thermostat, he drove his truck to my house the next evening and said it has a bad miss (he was about 25 years old) and he popped the hood :tongue9: I showed him another intake and asked did he at least clean the runners out, I showed him another intake and 2 runners was full of dirt dobber nest's :coffee2: We still talk about that day
Bumping this for some weekend exposure ... Lots of emails and PMs and everybody has the same burning question. What are they going to do about it???
X2 rayer: Thanks for the info Leanna, I have a set of vintage blue Direct Connection SB covers and I will check them out for this flaw, thanks again sweetie!!!!
He's not going to do anything. He just popped in here to try to save face.... rotest: He doesn't care about fixing our cars with the defect as much as he's trying to clear his name..... :wack:
Leanna, first off let me agree with others that you did everyone a service and did nothing wrong. The statement that you made above kinda said it all for me after reading the "other post", It kinda sounds as if he would have preferred you keep it quiet, at least that's my take on it. Furthermore after reading Rick's post I'm a tad turned off by it. In my opinion what should have been said is that yeah it was a problem, thank you for pointing it out and let everyone know it isn't happening anymore and move on. That would do more, in my opinion, to bolster business. And then there is this: Leanna you can sleep with a soft pillow.
Over 25K members on this site. I wonder if Rick even thought of that? lol
I'm always happy to help out if I can Keith. Gotta keep this circulating so everyone can be aware of the problem ... :-D
I had a similar issue with some Direct Connection covers that I picked up. Didn't really care. Just trimmed it up and went on my way after giving it a bath. Edelbrock has had a lot of issues with intakes and cyl. heads as of late. Stuff that kills, like shoddy valve guide material and complete core shift on castings for intake runners, making it impossible to match runners, etc. I pulled a cad plated torx screw out of the float bowl of a brand new Edel. 1406... I'm sure that would have been awesome once it lodged itself under the float. Shit happens. Good on you for pointing it out. I'm with Daredevil. Check it out or cry later.
Thanks Dave :-D I just worked up a big brand new Edelbrock dress up kit and Performer intake. Every thread on the intake needed to be chased -- they were all sticky -- and their own logo is even crooked. LOL I was saddened to see that the valve covers and air cleaner assembly were also "Made in Taiwan." We're outsourcing ourselves out of a country ladies and gentlemen ... and our cars get to suffer for it as much as we do.
Yeahhhhhhh bomber, I know ...
At least we know that PSC isn't going to China and quality out the window...
Ohhhhhhhh dang it Karl, I soooooo forgot to tell you ............. :-D I'm just kiddin. I'm not going anywhere. LOL
