I need a belt for my alt, Fan and crank becasue i went over to manual steering, But i cant find the correct length.

Yup Yup i measured it and it was 44.5 and cant find anything

any local auto parts store should have that. V belt I assume?
If it is a Goodyear belt try a 15445 or 15450 I work at an auto parts store and am doing this from memory, and it was a very long day today

15445 looks to long at 54 and 15450 looks to short at 44.5 because my power steering belt is (Standard) HC41 3/8" x 46 5/8"}
Category: Accessory Drive Belt

I dont know, haha I was told to use a string so i got 44.5, but then i was told that doesnt work becasue the string goes farther into the pulleys. Then i tried to use my power steering belt which is (Standard) HC41 3/8" x 46 5/8"}
Category: Accessory Drive Belt, but thats to short by maybe 2-4 inches

take your car to an autoparts store grab a salesperson and some belts and start trying them.

Or can anyone with manual steering give me the belt they have, so i can try those out

Even maybe getting a set of underdrive pulleys would help, if i knew what set to get

Let me start to say that I work at a Goodyear Belt factory, previously hose factory also. I've cut all kinds of belts for 21 yrs. So I know alot of the old Mopar part numbers by heart. Your Mopar needs a 13 series belt-95% of the cars I see have the incorrect 15 series belts on them! Although Mopar used 17 series belts on some single belt A/C and up to 69 P/S applications. The Goodyear numbers recommended are both 15 series and for sure made in Mexico. We still make a few of the 13 series belts for Mopar replacements-you have to go to the dealer and probably order one.- Maybe? Can you be more specific with the description of your car, Factory Air? Original pulleys? Stock alternator? Year of car? I have a small selection of 13 series belts, once I get some more info, I can help. On a Goodyear number the first two digits are the width in 32nds of an inch, the last three numbers show overall outside length, The first two numbers are inches, the third is eighths of an inch so a 15445 is 15/32 inch wide and 44 and 5/8 long. The Mopar belts we make are a premium construction belt where-as the Goodyear belts made in Mexico are mostly made of gum stock. I have old application books dating back to the 1950's. Your car possibly calls for a 13475, not correct if you have changed anything. Let me know! Anybody else have any belt or hose questions? I'll help if I can. I don't read these forums everyday so be patient.

its a 73 318 duster had p/s. It changes because it has to run the water pump now. I dont know anyhting else about it, im not the original owner, but im guessing it did have A/C

DusterBoy, how many FABO names do you have??? LOL

The night before last I grabbed a trouble light, crawled underneath my car and gave you my Gates XL belt number 7145 at your request. Why won't that belt work for you? Our motors are the same block and we're running the same things with them.

Good luck with the search.

If it had AC, the pullies left won't line up. If someone has swapped in different pullies, you'll have to do some measuring and trial and error.

Pre-70 pullies are different, and if it had AC, it's probably a frankenstein mess unless someone has swapped in non-AC pullies. In which case, you'll still need to know what year the pullies are from to get the correct belt. If I remember correctly, the alternator brackets are different, too. If the pullies aren't lined up, you're going to have issues.

Measure around the outside of the pullies with a piece of fabric or something. When I did my 67, I got it right on my first try.

You climbed under the car? Why didn't you click the starter a couple of times, or turn the engine by hand?

Ok thanks guys, Cudachick.... My name is stephon, dusterboy is my friend that i went to school with. He's helping me

ok put some washers and now i need a belt that is 47 or 48 in long 5/8

Once you've determined the correct width you should be able to measure close enough to get one to fit. The alternator is adjustable so one within a half inch either way should be able to be used. You Just have to adjust the alternator to tighten it up.

What do you mean you put washer on and now need a different length belt?? The only place I can think you can put washers on is behind mounting bolts and that can't affect belt length. Beside putting washers in isn't a good thing. Creates instability.

Putting in washers moves accessories forward and backward. Can't affect belt length.

i guess i don't understand. how do washers affect belt length??? if you don't even have the right pulleys, how do you know what belt length to get??

first thing to do is to STOP getting help from your boy flusterboy.

SB duster

Actually putting washers can help, because if its at an angle it wont work correctly. Putting spacers to move the ALT foward lines up the belt and helps me find a belt

Leave him out of it, i asked for help on finding the correct belt, not criticism about my friends
