best housing for Eaton

Starting the rebirth of my 73 swinger. Dropping in a 440, est. about 600hp . Upgrading to 8.75 and I'm looking at the Eaton truetrac unit. Car will see some track time but mainly street time. My question is what housing is best for this ? 489, 742 ??

Shock loads are lower on a street car but at that power level a Dana 60 is something I would start thinking about.

Yup. I wouldn't even slow down to think about an 8.75. Go Dana 60.

So, I purchased a used 8 3/4 because I wanted a no hassle fit into my A-body. I decided to take it apart completely and rebuild it so it could be perfect. I went to Dr Diff and asked for all new gaskets, new Timken bearings, new gear set (3.55's for a 489 case), an Eaton True Trac, and more. With the amount of time and money I spent on the whole rear end, I could have just bought a new Dana 60 from him.
