Best Replacement Turn Signal Swich

-
A buddy came over yesterday, and I asked him to check while I tried the turn signals and brake lights. The drivers side brake light doesn't work, but if you use the passenger side turn signal the drivers brake light works. So does that mean it is in the switch?
yeah, having the brake light circuit go through the turn signal switch is monumentally stupid. mine did the same thing with the replacement cams I bought, but everything has been working good with the full switch from Standard Motor Products (PN TW7)

I was afraid of that. The switch was one I ordered through Dan a couple of years ago. I guess I will be pulling the steering wheel off to see if I can find a problem.
Keep us posted. It would be great to see what the issue is with these switches that causes this problem. Most everyone just finds an aftermarket switch and replaces it to have the same problem.

if I had to guess based on my experience, it's in the cam, either a piece of plastic holding one of the wire contacts in place, or perhaps one of the rivets holding the contacts

I took the original switch out of my 64 and it pretty much fell apart in my hands. (Arizona car) I am trying to wrap my brain around how it is supposed to work by providing power to the brake lights but intermittent power to one side when the turn signal flasher is energized. It must break that circuit and send it through the flasher.
