For years I wanted this back, KFC is making moves in the right direction now by bringing back the good old choices.
In my experience it depends on location. A few spots over cook the chicken making it tough and dry, but one spot I go to gets it right 99.99% of the time. The attitude is different too, the nicer the people, the better the food.Unfortunately, around 2021 the quality of their chicken went way the hell down.
Their "colonel's strips" got me through covid, as they were the only thing even remotely appetizing for me.
I literally ate them 2 meals a day, 5 times a week for months.
...and then one day...
...they sucked.
Night and day difference.
Now the meat is tough, chewy, and ridiculously fatty.
...and the breading doesn't stay on.
I went from "customer for life" to "never again" in weeks.
I have tried them twice since then, once in 2023 and again last year.
I'm done.
Too bad for them and for me.

Stop it you know you really like wedges...Hemi's too.I don't like wedges. I want fries or a potatoe (mashed or baked). You all can have the wedgie! LOL

They completely closed ours, but it was partially due to a 100-year flood. It sat empty for years after the flood and then a "Cluck Bucket" chicken moved in. It didn't last long. The KFC original didn't have the assembly line style food bar but more of a diverse really well stocked "salad bar". Then a local businessman took it over and put in the style I believe you are referring to YY1. Did you walk along the counter and a server put food on the plate and hand it to you at the end? It reminded me of being in the 8th grade at the Illinois school lunch counter but at least with choices. That's what killed the one we had.Yeah, the one closest to me had a bar.
They stopped that about 6 months or a year ago.
It was purpose built, right on the counter with the register.
Now it's empty and looks odd.
There is no substitute for the real thing! Did your wife make the "Sawmill" gravy from the fried chicken drippings? Both of my grandmothers made that homemade chicken gravy. I have never been able to master the recipe. THat stuff was the best!Wife fries good chicken, but it is hard to get there to kill and dress the boogers! I would, but I am busy working on my toy car!
Plus I would need a a bank loan to buy KFC!

IGA grocery has a "Chester fried" chicken...not bad but doesn't hold up to Grandma Beatrice or my other Grandma Beulah...LOLWe had a "fried chicken store" until the poor worker fell thru the floor, and into the large vat of boiling oil. God rest her soul.
Law suit and never reopened. True story.
Now the local ish grocery cooks fired chicken. Not too bad if ya get it while its hot!
Stroker Ace! Nice! good memories there. There was another Burt Reynolds movie back when with Jan Michael Vincent... Hooper?Meh

All of the buffets around here closed up during COVID. Except for the Chinese places and most of them should be closed.Yeah, the one closest to me had a bar.
