I have a 4.250 Bloomer crank in a 4.06 bore R3 block. (440”). The block was barely touched/clearanced for piece of mind, if nothing else.
 
Both would be great if you could do it.

I just had to dig’em out and open up the boxes there in.
The gasket is an Edelbrock. It’s smaller than the OOTB heads intake port opening by just a hair.

Obviously as cast OOTB & well ported.

Yeah, I forgot about the intake valve guide. That and the spring seats need welding. The front side of the intake guide is too blunt and there isn’t enough material there to make it the correct shape. If you get it close it tends to fracture the guide boss.

So weld up the front of the intake guides and add about .700 to the spring cups. Raise the roof to where it should be and then weld the floor to get it right.

Im saying that would be close to 400 CFM on a 2.100 valve and maybe you could squeeze a 2.125 valve in there with a 1.500 exhaust.

@Rat Bastid I’ll do no work except in the chamber to clearance the valves to de shroud should that be the case.
Also, the aluminum is crap. It doesn’t take to any welding at all.
The port floor is only smoothed and a minor widening at max.
The valves are 2.08/1.60 in titanium. They’ll stay.

I have zero idea on how much the roof can be raised. As well as how thick the spring seat is. I can check the OOTB head for a reference. In raising the roof, blending into the spring seat area would currently be a guess and the amount of material left under the spring may compromise the area depending on what’s there stock and what is left by exploiting its max potential. I’ll not do anything and gamble. It would be foolish for a rookie to take a die grinder to this head and it’s known and UNKNOWN thin areas.

In another thread, I had gotten a name for a fella that has a W5 CNC program. This will be the last head I have ported by someone else. From there, what ever it yields, I’ll just work with what I got and make the best of it.

I've been very pleased with my 4.125" stroke deal. It made peak power at 6750, I normally don't turn it over 7k and it pulls like a freight train..........everywhere!
What are the specs on that engine? I need more Info!

R1 block, 4.090" bore, 4.125" BPE crank w/ 2.00" rod journals, 6.125" Comp Star rods, Diamond flat top pistons, 1.5mm, 1.5mm, 3.5mm ring pack 11.2-1, ported Indy 360-1 heads and Indy intake, 1050ish Thumper built 4150 carb, Comp solid roller 263/271° @.050", .711/.719" at the retainers, Pac springs, T&D 1.7 rockers, Hedman 1 7/8" headers. It runs on pump 93.
 
Not to hijack (which means i'm gonna hijack) but do any reputable companies make 408 or 426 short blocks? I talked to blueprint.. but they only make longblocks due to a shortage of parts which makes no sense at all :)

Your car would be .5 faster without those HUGE fracking headers.

I was thinking that if I step up to a 318 with 302 heads, a worked 2bbl intake and log manifolds it may pick up a whole second.
 
My Ex told me that anything over 1 1/2 inches is just showing off anyway...
 
Gonna see how it goes on my build. Never built a serious SB before. 4.125 stroke X 4.175 bore. I'm not overly optimistic, as we've had great success with pumpgas hemi engines. New world for me.
