Hey guys, got a hold of a 2015 Blueprint 408 and need to find out if l need an externally balanced flexplate. Any info would be great, thanks.

I'm unsure anybody makes one. But I don't think anything would be wrong with it as long as it was the same style. You should verify 100% that's what you need though.

anything wrong with using a knockoff?
Using a flexplate made by "lord knows who" would be a really poor $90 to try and save in my opinion, when the manufacturer that makes the engine, sells one balanced and checked, again to the correct spec. On a new engine install, if you find a vibration, I would sure like to know I'm not pursuing a "store brand" to help diagnose. Not dogging any reseller or WD, but just my opinion.

We have customers call back with driveline vibrations and brand X flywheel/flexplates, and we make them send in their flywheel or flexplate, we spin them up here, and they aren't Even close.

Thats a pretty old engine. Who knows what it's been through. May have been internally balanced by now. What does the damper look like?

He also says he has no idea as it’s still in whatever it’s in!

So my question is… what’s it’s in? Car, truck… is an auto or manual behind it now?

If it’s an auto now, chances are it’s a 727 and if so, why not just get everything you need when you pull it, if the guy will allow it!

904 and 727 are different, make sure you get the correct one. 904 is smaller in diameter. The starter on a 904 is slightly in a different position. 904 dust cover, 727 case.
