Was getting the old Cuda parts car ready to drop the k-frame when my neighbor stopped by. I was telling him I was going to swap out the '67 K for the '69 K-frame to get disc brakes and a decent idler arm setup... that '67 arm just looks so flimsy. Sway bar too, the '67 doesn't have one. Also explained to him the left-hand lug nuts on these cars... "that's info a guy needs to know!", lol. So, I get the car up in the air and start zipping off the lug nuts with the air impact wrench. Long chrome lugs nuts and American Racing slots. They're all coming off really easy... thinking to myself that the new air compressor throwing out a few more PSI is making a difference! Get to that last one and the wheel starts dropping... wtf.
I had never taken this off before.

I snapped every... last... stud.

Not one or two... every last one.

Someone had swapped out the rotor for a passenger side with RH threads is what I'm thinking. I was probably going with new rotors anyway but damn. A true Homer Simpson moment.
 

Oops.
You'd best check the passenger side to see if that's where the drivers side rotor ended up.
That side was ok. I stopped when the first lug nut was halfway off, and finger tightened it just to make sure :)
 
Well, at least it won`t show after you get it fixed, unlike my dumbass move of shutting garage door bracket scraping down the decklid of the old Dodge...

Thing about it is it clears fine with the lid open, it`s only with the back end jacked way up in the air that it doesn`t. lol
I said thats it, I cut that excess paint mauler off and wrapped the rest in foam, cause doncha know in a few years I`ll forget and do it again:)

Loading the savoy on the trailer to get to a race. Had the trailer on the ball...... but forgot to latch it. Halfway up the ramps, trailer unhooks....... and t-bones the dually tailgate.
Oh well, now it looks like a Toyota tailgate.

And maybe the bonehead move of the week. And month. We all vote on Bonehead move of the year; winner gets a gold membership. I'll pitch in.

Ooooh, pick me! Years ago I was campaigning a big block Challenger. I took a cue from a logger who always used chains and those orange binders to secure his car on a trailer - he swore by (at?) them so I did the same, still do. Early AM, car was successfully griped down and off to the races. Raced all day and into the evening. Lost the last round about 9:30 PM. Pits were poorly lit. Car went up on the trailer, cross chained the front, tilted the deck & cross chained the rear, pinned down the trailer bed & homeward we went. Pulled into the unlit backyard & carried my dead tired butt in for a shower & bed. Got up the next morning to unload everything. I found a very slack chain from the passenger front of the car to the driver's front corner of the trailer. On top of that, the entire deck of the trailer was wet. Somehow, someway, in my haste, I managed to throw the chain over the lower radiator hose. On the way home the chain 'sawed' off the lower radiator hose and radiator input nipple. Fortunately the track was/is only 7 miles from the house but, oh, what could have been. And I formally apologize to anyone who followed me down the highway that night...

How about backing the truck partway into the garage to load stuff then pulling out but forgetting the door to the camper shell was still open. The handle catches the upper garage door frame tearing it off while yanking the camper shell door into pieces of scrap metal.

Not being satisfied with this brilliant move I did it a second time a few years later.

And then there was the trailer episode where I pulled my flatbed with a 2-5/16" hitch but didn't check the ball on the truck which was 2". It worked fine till I hit a hump on a bridge transition which tossed the trailer just high enough to fall off the ball on the freeway. The breakaway and safety chains saved the day but it was more excitement then I want to go through again.

Mine is actually closer..... but I can't use it. National events only! Nearest I can use that is 1/4 mile is 180 miles. Ain't Southern California great?!
 
Shortly after I got out of the Navy, I was friends with a died in the wool (that's right, died, not dyed) Chev guy, and he was ALWAYS scrapping stuff out. Calls me up one Sat. afternoon, I happened to be eating lunch. "You got an impact?" "Yup." "I've got a tire I can't get off this hub. Can I bring it out?"

"How you gonna do that?" "It's a front drum. I got the whole thing off."

So he comes out, tosses it on the ground. "Mopar, right?" I said. "How'dga know that?" "I can tell by lookin. Which side of the car is if off of?"

This funny odd look comes across his face........................................
 
It wasn`t till my early 30s till I was introduced to left hand threads.
I was in the breakroom at work telling the guys I can`t get some lugnuts off for nothing, coworker says what year? 68, says I, maybe they`re LHT says he. Luckily those big ol studs on a F-350 didn`t let me faze them, lol

I hear ya. As a child, I was fortunate to grow up with 1/4 tracks everywhere, racing every weekend, factory support, colorful characters, etc.. It is sad to note the current reduction in track numbers.

I can't count on all my fingers and toes how many tracks (dragstrips and otherwise) that we have lost here in southern california in my lifetime here.
I've raced on about fifteen different strips, with only about three of them left.
(Barona, pomona, and famoso).
 
When I win the lottery I'm building a track somewhere and racers will appreciate the super low entrance fees, inexpensive food, and nice cash purses to name a few - all the things the grassroots racer need to continue the sport.
