Bonneville Landspeed Racing - Let's Try a Thing.

-
I got the hyd clutch line ran but ran into an issue with the brake masters and lines. Got that sorted out, just needs to be finished up. New 1350 yokes came yesterday, so i can measure for a driveshaft and get that made soon. Looking at anow again this weekend. Yuck.

Alao my body isn't cooperating. I believe it is cervical angina from budged c5-7 discs. Leaves me paranoid of cardiac issues which is exhausting. Back/spinal surgery will likely be in my future. Not sure when, but quality of life is dwindling.

Also, got a reply from Calies about a 2.96" stroke SBM crank. They said they haven't made a SBM crankshaft in 15yrs. WTH?

So, I was able to get some time in the garage finally. I got the hyd throwout bearing line ran, the bleeder line in, the brake masters have the correct hose barbs and all 3 hoses cut and run to the remote reservoir. I found that I ordered the wrong slip yoke. I thought all A833 trans have the 30 spline output, well not the aluminum case OD trans. Those are 26 spline like the 904. So, that is ordered and driveshaft will get measured once the yoke gets here next week. I hope to peck away at a bunch this weekend. I made up the lower shock spacers today, so that can be finished up. No more stacked washers.

Dude, get your back fixed asap. Get the quality of life back so you can enjoy the stuff your doing.

Sheesh, you are bossy. lol

Yes I know. I have a neuro spine appt on Tuesday. Hopefully they can help. If I need surgery, then it will be after Bonneville! It has been a combo of cold/snow/ice and long work weeks on top of pinched nerves. I am doing what I can.

I got some time in the garage. Lower shock mounts and spacers worked great. Brake line cushion clamps all in. Fuel line clamps didn't show up. Most of the engine wiring is done, switch panel is partially wired. Trunk hinges made and temp installed. Gas tank is bolted in tight. Worked a little on pulley alignment.

Rough day today, but got all the fuel line clamps on, figured out what I need for the electric fans. I can bend those up at work. I have to pick up some oil, a battery ground cable, battery, etc this week. Also need to figure out where i want the battery and build a box for it. I figured out the front tow hooks. Tailights are in, but I only had 2 of the 4 bulb socket/pig tails.

Well the 26 spine 1350 slip yoke showed up last night. Upper back C5-T1 vertebrae are going bananas. So much pain. I go to neurospine this afternoon. I hope they can help find some relief. This could stop me making it there this year. Sad face!!! For now, see what they say in a couple hours. Almost unbearable right now - and still 60hr weeks.

So, I learned there is an issue with C4-7 but they want an MRI of the thoracic spine as well before moving forward too far. Anti-inflamitory and steroids for 6 days to start off.

It is something to try to bring the inflammation down to relive some pain, then MRI of thoracic. We already have the cervical spine MRI. Then decide if surgery is needed.

The pain brings chest pain that radiates down the left arm, so it feels like possible heart issues all of the time.

Wow man that’s no joke. I hope they can get you fixed up quick and get rid of your pain.
I like this doctor and surgeon is top in his game. Ideally, relieve pain enough to finish my goal. Then if surgery is needed, hopefully this fall, AFTER racing. If possible.

I think with minimal effort I could try and start the car this weekend...maybe. Just need battery, ground cable, prelube/prime oil (which I have a pressurized oil tank that should be able to attach to the pipe plug opposite the oil pressure sender line). I haven't used this kit, but it sounds like it would work. From Jegs below. That counts as working on the car when I hurt too much to work on it, right?

Also, it is 40⁰ and raining. Cold to the bone! Got a few things done, but all done for the day

Well, I had the orbis x-ray on Monday, MRI of thoracic spine tonight. $$$$$ We will see what this tells me about this years WOS attempt. I pulled the plug on going and helping at Speed Week this Aug. I feel terrible, but the time and money just isn't going to be there. I have about $2,500 worth of safety and small stuff to buy yet and the actual trip out there. Hope is dwindling...

****. Keep your head up and keep working towards a goal. You’ll get there.

Thanks Mike. I am moving forward, we will see what the say is with my back. Fingers crossed and keep on going.
Your health is definitely the most important thing. Bonneville can wait. And if we have to put you in the car in two years with hand controls we’ll do that. There’s always a way.

Means a lot Buddy. Gosh it better not come to that though!!!

I had a fusion at C6-C7 in January of 2020. While not nearly as severe as what you're probably going through, I remember doing a lot of things after rupturing that disc before understanding what was happening that had me believing I was bound for a wheelchair. You're going to be thankful after you have it done and go through physical therapy. All I can tell you to do is be careful. My worst symptoms from that were from involvement of the entire spinal cord at that level being affected by bone spurs. Whenever I did something I shouldn't have, it was causing more false pain and spasms at the lumbar level, but that whole chest wall pain was relentless. Yeah, radiates through both arms and makes you feel like a "bug pinned to a board' at the school science fair. In the right hands, you're going to be okay. But definitely get it taken care of before something that otherwise shouldn't leaves you permanently incapacitated. Racing Bonneville would no doubt be awesome, but probably not worth the risk in your present condition. Don't let what should otherwise be a minor incident have life changing consequences...

Thanks Garrett. That is all of what I am dealing with. Thankfully the chest wall pain has subsided and the melixicam is helping a ton. The prednisone was terrible. I almost went to ER over that ****.

So, the doctor's office just called. Thoracic spine MRI shows normal. Now they are asking for updated images of the Cervical. What in the Holy Phuk???? Why didn't we just do that last night? All of it? Now it will cost me 2x $$$$. PLEASE INSERT SAMUAL L JACKSON HERE>...

So, very little has been geting done, but all of it counts. Went back to the C500 front end, easy enough to change but will be better for any street driving and loading on a trailer. Small parts have shown up, waiting on rear diff yoke to measure for driveshaft. A buddy is making a trip to a supply house for aluminum sheet. He is going to pick me up a sheet of 1/8" aluminum to make a rear spoiler. Similar to this one on the Hooley Studebaker. It will help with stability at speed and move the Center of Pressure back.

Cervical spine MRI orders are in. Waiting for appt call.
