BORE SHROUDING TEST: 4.03" vs 3.91" Edelbrock RPM Heads Really Fit a 318? Project Mission Impossible

-
I like the asphalt dyno personally, the flow bench can be tricky sometimes, i had a 318 in my Duster that ran 11.70s, it was 9.5-1 comp with a flat tappet cam and Edelbrock heads and a dual pane intake, it was just a street car, i drove it to the track and raced it. I could not even think about offset boring a 318 what would be the point. maybe i could had run a 11.69

Offset boring makes no sense. I try to run stock bores for the extra strength. I'd probably drop any machine shop that even suggested it.

They probably wont be offset boring it once they find the factory bore locations are slightly off from blueprint anyway. The only way moving the bore is practical is to start with a block rough bored well below your finished dimension. Like a race block. Not a used oem block. Even then, the gains are extremely small.
