    Hi.
My name is Greg and i have a small business called Carby Tuning Techniques.
I spent time with Shrinker tuning some cars and learning lots off him when he was still with us and have followed my life long passion of tuning carbureted engines.
we tuned some holleys together and some smart carbys.
thought i might come on here occasionally and show some stuff i have been doing and have learnt on the jobs, and share some insight into Shrinker from my perspective.
Feel free to ask anything you want to and i will try my best to answer in a way that helps.

I love carbys. lol I'll never go EFI. I just love the whole concept of tuning a carburetor to run right. It's becoming a lost art.

            Hi Greg,
Good to see another Aussie here. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Procarbs, Taree, NSW is selling fully refurbished Ford TQs for $985. These great carbs seem to be enjoying a resurgence of interest.

Is Shrinker still in the land of the living?

            Welcome to the forum..
I had a heck of a time tuning my Holley street demon 625's...
They were not made tuneable to run two at a time..
I've got them running relatively well and I guess what I would say good enough. But very finely tuned not yet. There was one magazine article when they first came out in 2012 where someone in Florida some high performance shop did a set of them and drilled holes in the secondary flaps. I actually ordered some extra secondary flaps and did that as well to help them open up...
Anyways I may get back to it a little bit more this next summer...

"When he was still with us" so I sorta assume maybe not. A lot of these old school genius guys are leaving us now.

Air flaps. Do you mean the adjustable air valve? Pics of the holes? What diam?
Was the purpose to have some constant airflow to avoid a bog?

I assume you were talking to me? I didn't get quoted so I'm kind of going out on a limb here... But if you're talking about drilling the holes in the secondary air flaps or whatever technical term they're called there was an article like I said when these carbs first came out in 2012 and I imagine it was a complete setup where we give these carbs to some performance shop and they work their magic on them under Dino tuning them on a engine and we promote your shop type deal.... Anyways at the time it was the only article I could find or anybody was attempting this successfully and I even tried calling them and they were very unhelpful...

                    Hi Greg,
                    Welcome to the site.
The rest of you guys have no idea what he has to deal with. Carbys weren't designed to run upside down, and with the intake runners & heads trying to swirl the mixture in the opposite direction, he has his work cut out for him.

                      Welcome Greg.
Just a few of us here from some of the old forums Shrinker used to participate in.
He provided tremendous insight, and forced many of us to understand how to looks at things and approach the problems from the combustion point of view.

                      Hi there.
Bruce was a gifted man.exceptional with music and suspension.he was a good plumber too.

His carbys were very good.No one else that i know of understands the importance of fuel droplet size and its application. He made a carby so that he could control the droplet size and see its impact on combustion. Ive seen that first hand on my own engine.quite incredible actually.

LOL he gave me hell in his own way about the mixed booster carb I was posting results about. I had never even thought about that aspect up until then.

Later it was interesting to back read his discussions with Klaus, as well as Tuner and others from early in the Innovate forum. He always knew what he didn't know, and he went looking for answers, whether that was in the books or by testing. Glad he was so willing to share so much.

He had the ability in the end to do his experiments in his head and then pretty well land near the answer in the physical.
Yes his willingness to share impacted so many people, some listened others decided not to at their own loss.
He was a great guy to hangout with,he liked to take interest in other people interests as well.I like that.

You to Mattax have great attibutes, ive seen some of your own posts over the years and applied some of it to my thinking. We are just constantly learning which i think is so much fun.
Tuner is very good.I would like to meet him.Bruce spoke highly of him too.

I am sure you have a high degree of skill to share with others. Carbs will never go out of style in my world.

Especially when the current model daily driver's fuel injection goes on the fritz, and no one has a clue on how to fix them.

David Vizard knows about fuel droplet size/atomisation. He mentions it in at least one of his 30+ books.

                        J Par,
Thanks for posting the Demon link. You could see the added holes in the AV, but unless I missed it, could find no explanation in the text for the holes.

Thanks for posting that top pic.

That's exactly what I expected it to look like. Is that a Quick Fuel and is that booster stepped?

Is the pump shot actually the pump shot or is it pulling fuel past the nozzle? What size is the venturi?
