I’ve owned this 71 V24 Duster that had a repaint somewhere along the way for about 6 months. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to think about trying to buff it but I’m so glad I did. I used a red foam pad and 3Ms step 3 compound and cannot believe the results. Now to try my hand in blending the drivers quarter after the repair to the dent. I’m going to have one fun summer drag racing it before it gets taken apart for the resto it deserves.

I can’t even get one done out of the two I have Pauly! But hell yes bring it down. Haha

Wow....big difference! Looking at the very first pic, my thought was "Will it pick the front wheels up high enough to clear the Wiener dog, be loud enough to scare him/her out of the way of the back tire, and then stop before it hits the trampoline?"

:steering::lol:

I’m hoping it will do all of those things! Hell at this point I can’t wait for it to move under its own power. This thing hasn’t been on the road in a very long time. A snake skin actually fell out from under neath the steering column. Haha

I guess I’d rather find snakes in a car, than bees. A snake will leave if you give him half a chance. Bees will always start a fight, and they always win! :mad:

"synthetic enamel", aka "synthol" or "might have been "alkyd enamel" I'm not sure...........

I still vaguely remember my Dad bought an old about a '50 GMC from a neightbor that had been out in the sun forever unused. This was about 64 or so. Anyhow one Saturday I came home and dad was busy out back with rubbing compound and I could not BELIEVE how good that old girl looked. It had some dings here and there and one running board had been damaged by dragging over a stump or rock, but even so she looked pretty good. I had had no idea that old paint could be buffed and polished like that

Some types can NOT after they have gone so far. Clear of course can have problems, but in the early 70's acrylic enamel was a "big thing" and that ****, once it starts to craze in the sun---is done.
