I just bought some Caltracs for my 66 Dart race car.In the instructions it says to have your leaf springs clamped front and back and adjust in 1/4 turn increments til happy with your settings.Good Luck.

Depends on the car.

Lower HP stuff, lower hole, drivers weight in seat, zero preload in drivers bar, about 3 flats preload in pass bar. Flats are the nut flat surfaces.

Depending on shocks. Rancho 9 ways, usually start around 5-7 tight on each side. Most of the time my stuff ends up with a split. Good shocks will make a difference with these bars as well.

Real high HP cars don't have the same settings anywhere close to something with 500hp.

It best to have someone watch the car launch to get a sense for what it's doing. Tire pressure is important.

I recommend buying everything that Cal Trac recommends. I tried with just the bars & clamped springs. Could not get it to work. Adjusted everything until I was worn out.
I gave in & bought the frt & rr shocks, along with the Mono springs.
I load the driver in the car at rest & use a Nickle as a spacer between the spring & pivot. I felt we were @ 90% on getting the car to hook consistent. At the time , I was running a M/T 9x28 tire. We won a couple of races with this combo, but I wasn't ready to say they were great. Midway thru the year, I installed Good Year 9x28's, We won 2 of the 3 next races & runnered up in the 3rd one. The M/T wasn't a bad tire, I was just using it wrong. The Guy @ Good Year looked at them & stated that the sidewalls had broken done. I should have had tubes in them & probably wouldn't have had consistancy issue.
The Good Years have alot stiffer sidewall & don't require tubes. I run them @ 16LBS.
That was two seasons ago. We have since won back to back championships at our local track & the only thing I have adjusted was the rear shocks settings, depending on the track condition.

so if I understand

-new rear shock (rancho 9 way)
-leaf spring(split mono)
-front drag shock(90/10)
-upper hole because the engine is close to 600 hp
-locker in contact with the leaft spring driver side
-1/2 turn preload passenger side

hade tried diferent slick
-m/t
-good years
-hoosier thats the one I prefer
