Do the numbers at the front of the first lobe mean anything? For instance, on the front of my 509 cam, it has the numbers 1136. down by the dist drive it looks like 514? Anyway, if anyone knows. Thanks, Mike

More likely for the grinder or maker of the cam blank. It is possible that the grinder has a code for them.

Reason I ask is. How would you know what you had it you didn't know? Like looking at a swap meet cam, etc.

Bing bing bing bing, winnner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have the cam in hand (Whch you do) then a set of checking springs, adjustable (or custom) pushrods, just 2 of them and a degree wheel is needed. OH, also a solid lifter, even if it is a Hyd.cam. The solid lifter is just for checking purposes only. The Hyd.lifter colapses and makes this checking impossible to do.

Install the cam, whatch the wheel and record the timing events @ 050.
