I have a good amount of upper tire lean inward going on with my 71 Swinger.

I have done the wheel bearings so it's not that. I am thinking I need UCA bushings and upper ball joints....no play in them but look old as the hills and worn.

I am wondering if this much leaning in could just be negative camber and I just need an alignment? I know it is hard to see in the pics...best I could do.

Thanks

Brian

Not hard to see unless you are carrying a white tipped stick. The bushings and ball joints are simple enough to check. Bushings you simply look at them. Do you know the correct way to check ball joints? Get a jack stand under the lower control arms one side at the time and take a long prybar and stick it under the tire and pry up. Look at the ball joints where they attach to the spindle and see if there is any play in the joints. there should be none. It may just need an alignment. It is perfectly normal for the alignment to get knocked out over time.

Yes, the UCA bushings are worn looking...I will check the ball joints the correct way and see what I have. Thanks for that!

I want to find a set of upper control arms that have new bushings and ball joints already in them so I can just swap them out when I am ready....just haven't found any yet. It's the small ball joint drum brake setup.

So I checked the ball joints. There is some play in the uppers and about 3/8" vertical play in the lowers when I pry up on the tire.

Man I'm tired of working on this thing....

Well it needs um. That still may not correct the alignment. You gotta understand, owning a car of any kind new, old or anywhere in between means constant maintainance....of some sort. Some more than others. It's a committment for sure.

I'll have to inform my kids of this....lol

I'm just tired....I may be reaching the end of my classic car owning days.
