Good day all! Im in the process as of now to install carpet in my 67 Dart. Automatic and im woundering if there is any cutting around the gas pedal bracket ? Or how far the front carpet goes up the floor. It has the underpad on it and Its a 2 piece carpet. Thanks for any help. BTW I know I will need to trim some along doors .

Any replacement carpet should be a little large in all directions. I get the sewn in heel pad positioned properly first and fit from there.

I replaced the carpet in my 66 Barracuda with carpet from ACC and it comes to just below where the steering column goes through the firewall. After I laid it down, I had my wife hold it down to the floorboard while I pushed an ice pick through the two holes (from underneath) that hold the gas pedal to the floor. Then I enlarged the holes enough to get the threaded studs through the carpet and into the holes in the floor.

Having said all this, I'm not sure how the gas pedal attaches on a 67 dart. :violent1:

Edd, make sure to lay it all out a day or 2 before and let it warm up. It will be easier to install. Cant remember if your shop is heated or not??? Maybe use a blowdryer/heatgun too??

^^^^^^^ like Steve said...

The longer it rests the better..

I used ACS massed back and had to trim alot. Around the Pedal and steering column a tad. But lots on the sides. Center console area was hard and really had to shove the front piece forward hard against the firewall to get it in place correctly.

Carpet conformed to the floor nicely though.

Be careful....I used a heat gun to dry out my wet carpet and the heat discolored the carpet. It's basically ruined now and I'll have to replace the whole thing@%$&^%(*%^!!!

Thanks everyone for the help. What im trying to accomplish is getting it in to were its to be without cutting to much. I have the B&M shifter and need it /carpet cut out enough for it.NON heated garage,Steve must of forgot those days of cold..LOL when you were down.I appreciate all the help. As soon as I get it cut for the shifter im bringing it in for a couple days then install then. AS well get the heater on in garage

I did my carpet set a few years back on my 67. I set the back piece in first. I overlapped the front piece and slid it as far forward as I could get it to fit. I trimmed the sides but nothing on the front.

Like others have said, let it lay out in a heated room preferably in the sun before you set it in place.
