Really? would you care to "widen it" for me???? I don't see the relevance of GM carb info here.

Really,

How about another Thread, on what Cylinder Heads should I use
on my stock 1970 318 2-Barrel.

Or better yet, what's the biggest Camshaft that I can put in my
1975 318 2-Barrel to help me go fast.

Really? would you care to "widen it" for me???? I don't see the relevance of GM carb info here.

Stupid is as stupid does. You ever heard of parts swapping? What if you need a certain size metering rod or jet? Now you know what to look for in other makes that used Carter Carbs. Damn. Special Ed?

Gee, Rusty, knowing your love for Mr. 440, I'm surprised to see you defending him.:banghead:

I admit......sometimes he's fulla hisself. But he posts a ton of info. Even the Quadrajet info is not useless here. Open your mind, Beavis. lol

The 'First Year' 327 in the Corvette. Chevrolet goes with the 'basic' WCFB,
for the Base-Model 327.

The WCFB is a reliable Carburetor, and is again used for the '1963' 327/250 HP
{#3501S; Manual} and {#3505S; Automatic}, as well as the '1964' 327/250
HP Engine {#3697S; Manual} and {#3693S; Automatic}.

Though reliable, the WCFB is not regarded as a Performance Carb.

In 1965, Chevrolet switches over to a Rochester 4GC {486 CFM} for the base 325/250 HP Engine.

1966 > {#4199S; Manual} and {#4120S; Automatic}

AFB
Rated @ 470 CFM's

Throttle Body Sizes ......... 1 7/16" x 1 9/16"
Venturi Sizes .................. 1.063" x 1.250"
Primary Jets ................... .089"
Secondary Jets ............... .073"

Though advertised as a 'special' 500 CFM AFB, it was basically a
good performing 4-Barrel for the small-cubed 273.

Several NHRA Stock-Class Racers flow tested this AFB, and were able to
generate a {517 CFM} air-flow at W.O.T.

1965 Plymouth/Dodge ~ 383/330 HP and 426/365 HP 'Street-Wedge

AFB {#3859S; Manual} and {#3860S; Automatic}
Rated @ 566 CFM's

Primary Jets ................... .089"
Secondary Jets ............... .0689"
Metering Rod .................. 16-127 {.0615 x .058" x .055"}

AFB {#3547S; Manual} and {#3545S; Automatic}
Rated @ 625 CFM's

This same 421 with a 'Tri-Power' {939 CFM's} set-up comes in {+17 HP} with a
370 Horsepower rating.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

1964 Pontiac ~ 421/320 HP

AFB {#3650S; Manual} and {#3651S; Automatic}
Rated @ 575 CFM's

Throttle-Body Sizes ....... 1 7/16" x 1 11/16"
Venturi Sizes ................ 1.186" x 1.563'

Pontiac steps down the 421 {-33 HP} down to 320 Horsepower, and
goes to a smaller Carter AFB, as well as lowering the Compression Ratio
to 10.5.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1965 Pontiac ~ 421/338 HP

AFB {#3895S; Manual} and {#3898S; Automatic}
Rated @ 575 CFM's

Throttle Body Sizes ......... 1 7/16" x 1 11/16"
Venturi Sizes .................. 1.186" x 1.563"

Pontiac again stays with the same Carter CFM rating combination for
the 'big-cubed' 421, but the Horsepower increases {+18 HP} to 338 Horsepower, as a 'bigger' Camshaft is now installed in the 421.

Carter Carburetors

1965 NHRA and AHRA Rules and Requirements

Both, the NHRA and AHRA 'approved' the Carter #3447S AFB {600 CFM} as a legal replacement Carburetor for the 273/235 HP Engines.

This lead to many of the {F/S and F/SA} Stock Class competitors to cry 'Foul', and to deem the 273/235 HP with the Carter #3447S AFB as an illegal combination.
