This Carter AFB was utilized for the 383/325 HP, as well as the 'big'
Chrysler 440/350 HP, and Plymouth/Dodge 440/365 HP 'Big Body' as well as the 'Police Pursuit Vehicles'.
 
Stupid is as stupid does. You ever heard of parts swapping? What if you need a certain size metering rod or jet? Now you know what to look for in other makes that used Carter Carbs. Damn. Special Ed?

Tell me about it! Does it really matter THAT much that you have to use only carb parts that came on a MoPar? Or not use them at all?!?! Holy Gez - Us!

This AFB was regarded as one the best Carter Carburetor combinations
for the 327/300 HP Chevrolet engine.

Though rated at a tad lower in CFM's than the 1962 thru 1964 AFB {680 CFM}, this Carburetor was an excellent unit for the 327/300 HP Engine.

Performance Recommendations

To 'richen' this AFB by {12.3%}, {.071"} Secondary Jets were
recommended.

For better 'Cruising Power', a {.104"} Primary Jet and {.076"} Metering Rod
were recommended, which made the AFB {1.9%} Leaner.

For improved 'Power', a {.104"} Primary Jet and {.055"} Metering Rod
were recommended, which made the AFB {31.3%} Richer.

This AFB {575 CFM} is built on the {610 CFM frame}. It can easily be
converted to {610 CFM's} by replacing the Hot Idle Compensator
with a 1963 and earlier Hot Idle Compensator {#169-43S}

Also, with the Rochester Tri-Power Unit {767 CFM's}, this 389 Engine
combination put out an additional {+23 HP} to 348 Horsepower.

When using the AFB {#3447S} for a Single-Carburetor on the Small-Block Mopar.

1} Re-adjust the full-throttle arm, as it comes from the factory set at
15* before closing at W.O.T.

2} Change the Primary Jets to .089" {120-159}, as the Jets are too rich
for the Small Block.

3} Change the Secondary Jets to .095" {120-167}, as the Jets are too lean
for the Small Block.

4} Change the Metering Rods to 16-75 {.0635" x .053"}

5} Replace the Secondary Clusters with {58-151S} and {58-152S} from the
1963 {mid-Year} and 1964 ~ 426 Maximum Performance Engine AFB #3705S

Excellent thread and info. Thanx. I now know what my 4299S is for. I know you are still building the list, but do you have nfo on a 9510S? I have this one loitering as well.

The #9510S is a superseded version of the Competition #9500 Series.

The #9510S comes equipped with GM Linkage and an Electric Choke, and
with provisions for an EGR unit.

This Carburetor was designed as a replacement Carburetor for Low-Performance '327' Chevrolet engines.
