So I am stuck at this part. Anyone know what to do next? And offer step by step details on how to do the rest? Thanks!

There is a post with very detailed photos to take your further into your "key in column". Search for it. Was linked to just a month ago. Next step is remove the turn signal switch. Remove the pins from the connector at bottom of column using a small screwdriver to release them. Don't cut the wires like monkey mechanics often do.

Okay I'll go look, thanks!

I was referring to the pins (terminals) that are in the wiring connector, that comes out of the lower part of the steering column. I haven't worked on a 75 which uses a different connector, but I am sure there is fairly simple way to release the metal pins from the plastic housing.

Compare the new aftermarket switch to your original closely. At one time there were some that had an extra wire on them.
