Rock auto does not list any muffler as available for a '69 dart with any engine combination. I found a universal Muffler that is waaaaaay cheapter than the Restoration Mufflers from Year One or Accurate LTD., which are pricey and seem to fail somewhat quickly for me.

I believe SlantSixDan Has recommended this muffler in the past for slant 6's as it can Jeep XJ Cherokee's too.
Walker 18113 has the same dimensional case length of an OE v8 A body Muffler and is 2 1/4" in and out. It can be easily modified to fit any A Body with any engine combination with some pipe adapters as needed.
The In and out tubes are long and will need cut to length for my application.

Here is a comparison of the two units before I cut off the extra length on the Walker 18113

Here is a side by side of the old patched up unit and the Walker 18113 with the ends cut off to my specification.

I am picky about muffler and Exhaust work in general - I want clamps and slip fits for future removal cause I tend to keep stuff for a while.
I hate fully welded systems that are installed quick and dirty and need to be cut apart to service the transmission or replace a component.

Both Patchy Units removed:

2 New Walker 18113's installed:

Don't Forget to drill some weep holes, Bro!

I ran Magnaflows on my V6 Dakota's. i really liked the sound. I might have a video. Give me a min. Not a good video though.

i just replaced the worn out glasspak in my 72 valiant with this muffler. Super quite

AP Exhaust 6519 Muffler $50

I remember drilling a cross hole in the 3 inch Dia. header extensions . Stuff a big ball of coarse steel wool in and slide the pin across. That was The cheapest for me. Right before a race pull the pin a stab the throttle. Then have a friend pick up the balls to be reinstalled .

A very popular thing to do on Corvettes with header side pipes. and fender well headers. Back when Sunoco 260 was 32.9 cents a gallon and we were all waiting for our draft number to be picked .

Everything under the Sun. Good old days.

The thing to reminisce about in the future will probably be when you could order a cheap turbo online and weld it on with a Harbor Freight MIG. Now that's a high performance muffler.

Walker 17615 are jobber mufflers that are identical to Thrush super turbos (also made by Walker). You can get them at Summit. Fit A bodies nicely and sound great.

It is the TTI 2.5" kit minus the mufflers. I used this kit with the mufflers from TTI (which are Thrush turbos) on my Demon. I was researching mufflers for my Duster when I found out that Thrush mufflers are made by Walker and the 17615 muffler is the exact mufflers minus Thrush stamping and Thrush cost. Here's a couple of pictures of the complete TTI kit on my Demon. FYI, this kit is not cheap, but is more reasonably priced than the Accurate Exhaust. TTI kit is also mandrel bends.

The one I recommend is this actual Cherokee 4.0 muffler, several notches higher in quality and durability (and suitability for quieting an inline-6).
Thank you for the correction Dan.
I have used that particular all stainless muffler on my '96 Jeep XJ Cherokee and I like it. The unit has lasted far longer than an aluminized part in the winter and salty environment.

When I mounted my Hookers on the Duster took my car to an exhaust shop told him "duals out the back and turbo mufflers." He put something from Superior that were round turbo mufflers. Looked like glass packs. Told him to do an H-pipe.. He didn't do that. They were loud and droned down the road.. I had an H pipe added and it killed the drone. Quieted it down.

Way back when I had my 1st car. 1970 Plymouth Duster 225. I added a 833 ( not the over drive one) from a wrecked 340 Demon. Everything but tge V8 bell and flywheel/clutch was from Demon.
Added headers, Cam, Intake-Carb.
Brought in for true duels.
Guy even had one pipe go over to passenger side.
But did not use the mufflers I asked for. Used old style glass packs.
I was young and poor and did not have money to redo with new not raspy loud droning muffs for a long time.
It sounded bad and all my buddies laughed.
But good ribbing was short lived and laughed with me as the high pitch crazy sound filled tge air as I rowed through the gears really putting it to it.
Car ran very well but sounded terrible.

If I ever do another slant car it will be the cast Doug Dutra manifolds,
And quite muffs I supply myself.
Nice to see there is a good option at a good price. Thanks OP

I was never a fan of the raspy sound of glass packs and the older they get, the louder they got. A friend has Porter steel pack mufflers on his Satellite. It does sound good but it has that glass pack cackle. The Porters are packed with stainless steel wool so they don't burn out as soon as fiberglass does.

They aren't raspy. My Superbee with the 383 had Arvin Speed Packs, pipes out the rear. ASP's like the snakes! It was mellow cruising, loud when they needed to be.

Yep For Sure, No Problem!

I have never had any of the mufflers on my classic cars rot out in 25+ years. Did you have to patch those old ones due to rust?
Yes, They rotted out. This is not the first time it has happened. Those patches were a quick, fix back in March of 2024 until I found Proper replacements that were not ~$150 Per unit. I wanted to keep driving the car and it sounded weird and felt horrible with the muffler(s) rotted out with a big hole in it.
Recently, I found the time to replace them.

I think because of the way the exhaust is setup on this car with the duals and small engine, the mufflers sometimes do not get super hot here in the cooler weather and moisture collects then rots them faster than if there were on a 318/340/360 powered vehicle.

When I bought my first 69 coronet R/T in 1971 I took it for its first state inspection at a local shop. They called the dealer and questioned the dents in the corners of the mufflers and the weep holes.

Gotta Love PA state inspection

I had a similar situation years ago back at Dad's used car lot.
We had nice a mid-late 80's M body retired cop car.
A potential buyer wanted it on the lift to inspect under it.. no problem. He saw perfectly round holes placed in low points of the muffler and tail pipe. He argued with us that the exhaust had holes in it.
